Precision Assembler jobs in New York
Precision Assembler performs precision assembling, aligning, or adjusting within very tight tolerances. Follows schematics and specification documents to complete measuring, fitting, wiring, and soldering of components to assemble units. Being a Precision Assembler calibrates and tests subcomponents and finished products to ensure quality and functionality. Inspects produced parts for quality assurance, identifies defects and makes adjustments. Additionally, Precision Assembler uses standard hand and power tools, and precision measuring tools such as micrometers, verniers, and dial calipers. Typically requires a high school diploma. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Precision Assembler works under moderate supervision. Gaining or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline. To be successful in this position: Have a high level of mechanical aptitude Experience with reading and understanding engineering drawings, models, work instructions and specifications Experience working with tight tolerances Have a basic understanding of shop math Can verify component conformance using precision gauges, micrometers and other measuring instruments Be organized, systematic and detail oriented Can learn from others and follow explicit instruction Have good problem solving and troubleshooting Be collaborative and team oriented Have a high level of accountability and pride in your work Preferred Education/Training/Experience: High School Diploma or equivalent Relevant certifications Examples: Precision machining Tool and die maker Instrument maker Engine mechanic Minimum 3 years’ experience working with precision assemblies Examples: Spindle assembler Machine builder Engine builder Gun smith Automotive technician
