Precision Grinder operates precision grinding machines to assemble products and product parts to established blueprint and engineering specifications. Selects, mounts, attaches and calibrates a variety of attachments and grinding machines for grinding angles, contours, lines, and spheres on to surfaces. Being a Precision Grinder requires a high school diploma. Typically reports to a manager. The Precision Grinder works independently within established procedures associated with the specific job function. Has gained proficiency in multiple competencies relevant to the job. Knives Sharpener Grinder

  • Summary/Objective
    Grind Tech is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the knife grinder to produce an adequate supply of sharp knives for the operation of the standers through disassembly, cleaning and re-assembly of knife packs which meet the specification for sharpness, tolerances and set up. The Grind Tech must be able to identify problem conditions and take appropriate corrective actions to either correct the problem or to obtain assistance.
     
    Job Duties
    1. Sharpen Granulator/Paper knife blades daily.
    2. Sharpen Planner Knives.
    3. Have boxes built if needed for blades.
    4. Honing blades.
    5. Cleaning blades.
    6. Clean machines as scheduled.
    7. Measurements and documentation of certain blades.
    8. All quality standards are to be maintained at all times.
    9. Meet expected deadlines for work completed.
    10. Follow all company policies and procedures.
    11. Follow all OSHA regulations and standards.
    12. Report all maintenance and safety issues within department and with equipment to Department Lead.
    13. Understanding, written and spoken directions.
    14. Perform all other duties and tasks as needed.
     
     Job Requirements
    Must be able to:
    1. Work 40-50 hours as needed.
    2. Work weekends or holidays when needed.
    3. Lift 50-70lbs
    4. Use a fork truck
    5. Bend, squat and stand as required for the job.
    6. Follow Directions both written and spoken.
    7. Understand forklift safety.
    Environment

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment can be loud. 
     
    Physical Demands

    The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. 
    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand and walk. The position requires frequent lifting, pushing and pulling objects that are 50-70 pounds or heavier.
