Reviews job specifications and complete setup tasks, including filling ink, calibrating machine, and loading stock. Being a Press Operator - All Widths conducts visual inspection of samples prior to running job. Performs in-process quality inspections utilizing standard testing protocols. Additionally, Press Operator - All Widths completes all required production logs and documentation. Interprets equipment diagnostics, troubleshoots breakdowns, and makes necessary adjustments to complete the job. Performs regular maintenance, cleaning, and changeovers of press from one job to another. Maintains a clean and safe workspace. Requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Press Operator - All Widths independently performs a wide range of complex duties under general guidance from supervisors. Responsibilities:
- Set up and operate press machines to bend, form, and shape metal parts according to blueprints and specifications
- Perform routine maintenance on press machines to ensure optimal performance
- Use various hand tools and measuring instruments to inspect and verify the accuracy of finished parts
- Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and work instructions to determine the correct settings and tooling required for each job
- Monitor machine operations to detect any malfunctions or defects in the production process
- Make adjustments to machine settings as needed to maintain quality standards
- Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet production goals and deadlines
Skills:
- Strong mechanical knowledge and understanding of press machine operations
- Proficiency in using various tools, such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges for accurate measurements
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and work instructions
- Familiarity with logic controllers and their functions in machine operations
- Experience with milling machines or other machining equipment is a plus
- Basic math skills for performing calculations related to measurements and machine settings
- Knowledge of tooling selection and setup for different materials and part specifications
- Welding experience is a bonus but not required
