Job description
General Description
Employees in this job are responsible for the forming of steel bar into raw forgings using a press forge and trim setter.
The job is done by rotating through 3 "stations" for an entire shift.
Essential Job Functions and Duties
Maneuvers work piece using 3' long tongs at waist level into the die to form it to shape. (65%)
Forging (20 minutes per hour)
Using tongs, pick up hot steel and place into first position.
Activate foot control to cycle press (machine).
Using tongs, pick up hot piece and place into second position.
Using tongs, pick up hot piece and place into third position.
Activate foot control to cycle press.
Using tongs, pick up hot piece and place on conveyor belt.
Trimming (20 minutes per hour)
Using tongs, pick up hot piece and place in trim bed (machine)
Activate foot control to cycle trim press.
Pick up scrap and discard into bin.
Material handling and cleanup (25%)
Set-up material (10 minutes per hour)
Lift bars of steel from knee level to shoulder level and place on bar feeder.
Cleanup (10 minutes per hour)
Use broom or shovel to lift metal scale from floor into waste bin.
Assembles, installs, and aligns dies in press according to specifications. (10%)
