Being an Principal Architect has a diverse knowledge of architecture principles and practices, uses advanced techniques, and has responsibility for final specifications, approval of ordered materials, and overall guidance on objectives and concepts. Ensures architectural designs are completed on time and adhere to the established specifications and standards. Additionally, Principal Architect keeps up to date on the development of new architectural methods or techniques. Requires a bachelor's degree in architecture. Requires a State Architect's License. Typically reports to a director. The Principal Architect typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be an Principal Architect typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments.     JOB SUMMARY:
    The Assistant Principal assists the building principal in organizing and fostering a positive, safe environment that is conducive to meet the needs of all students, staff, and parents and that supports the District’s mission and vision.
    JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
    1. Drives the success of each learner through collaborative implementation of a shared vision of teaching and learning that leads to student academic progress and school improvement.
    a. Assists in implementing instructional strategies, including supporting the needs of diverse learners, delivery methods, assessment, and staff development techniques for improvement of instruction.
    b. Acquires and shares knowledge of evidence-based instructional best practices in the classroom.
    c. Demonstrates proficiency in the WI Teaching Standards, district teaching expectations and delivery of the WI content standards, and federal or state laws pertaining to students.
    d. Serves as an instructional resource for intervention and equity services to support the development and growth of equitable systems and practices within the school.
    e. Participates in school academic, athletic, and co-curricular activities to supervise and advocate for the school.
    f. Communicates expectations regarding student behavior to students, staff, and parents.
    g. Implements district disciplinary policies and procedures related to student behavior and achievement.
    h. Develops and implements student intervention plans collaboratively with staff, parents, and students with respect to academic and behavioral progress.
    i. Addresses issues, situations, and problems that arise at the school or with enrolled students.
    2. Advocates, develops, nurtures, and sustains a safe, positive, and academically engaging school climate.
    a. Acts in the capacity of the principal during the principal’s absence from the school.
    b. Assists in establishing and maintaining an effective learning climate in the school.
    c. Uses data and incorporates knowledge of the social, cultural, emotional, and behavioral dynamics of the school community to cultivate a positive, engaging, academic learning environment.
    d. Collaborates with and provides support for the Instructional Coach model and vision of the school district.
    e. Provides and maintains a vision for digital learning as an online blended learning opportunity for all students.
    3. Provides effective leadership in the areas of human resources through selecting, assigning, supporting, developing, evaluating, and retaining quality instructional and support personnel.
    a. Participates in the selection of highly-effective staff in a fair and equitable manner based on school and district needs, assessment data, and local and state requirements.
    b. Supports staff induction processes and procedure to assist and support all new personnel.
    c. Assists in teacher and staff evaluations and evaluates their performance using multiple data sources.
    d. Assists in the preparation of regular staff meetings and keeps staff informed of building and/or district changes.
    e. Facilitates and supports teacher leadership at the school and district level, which includes being an active member of teacher leadership teams.
    4. Supports, manages, and oversees the school’s organization, operation and use of resources.
    a. Demonstrates and communicates a working knowledge and understanding of the state’s public education rules, regulations and laws, and school district policies and procedures.
    b. Establishes and enforces rules and procedures to ensure a safe, secure, efficient, and orderly facility and grounds.
    c. Assists the principal with developing and managing the school budget and the implementation of school district policies.
    5. Effectively communicates, collaborates, and engages stakeholders to promote understanding, support, and continuous improvement of the school’s programs and services that are aligned with the school’s vision.
    a. Acts in a supportive role with the principal in work with parents, teachers, and the community to promote the effective flow of communications and ensure positive relations with parents, business leaders and community members.
    b. Disseminates information in a timely manner through multiple channels and sources.
    c. Maintains visibility and accessibility to all stakeholders.
    d. Collaborates and networks with districts colleagues, the community and other stakeholders to effectively utilize the resources and expertise available.
    e. Provides a variety of opportunities for parent and family involvement in school activities.
    6. Demonstrates behavior consistent with legal, ethical, and professional standards, and by engaging in continuous professional development and contributing to the profession.
    a. Models professional behavior and is culturally responsive to students, staff, and other stakeholders.
    b. Provides leadership in sharing ideas and information with staff and other professionals.
    c. Assumes responsibility for own professional growth and learning to positively shape school effectiveness.
    7. Performs all other duties assigned by Administration.
    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
    • Valid Principal License from the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (DPI).
    • Valid Educator License in teaching or pupil services from DPI.
    • Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership or related field.
    • Minimum of three (3) years teaching/pupil services experience.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
    • Experience working in an administrative role.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
    1. Capable on a continuous basis of standing, sitting, reaching, grasping, bending, stooping, twisting; repetitive movement of both hands and feet; seeing with both near and far visual acuity and to hear.
    2. Capable on a frequent basis of walking and moving, climbing stairs, lifting from floor to waist (up to #50), waist to shoulders (up to #25).
    3. Capable on an occasional basis of pushing; pulling; lifting from shoulders to overhead (up to #10).
