The Pursuit School and Staff Childcare Principal is an employee of The Pursuit Church and is responsible for Pursuit School and Staff Childcare Center, leading in operating the School and Center, developing staff, and overseeing classroom structure. The Principal plans, organizes, directs, manages, and supervises programs for the school, and childcare and facilitates positive relations among school/childcare staff, parents, church staff, and the church congregation.
The position requires supervisory solid, leadership, and communication skills along with a warm and nurturing disposition. The Principal must be able to work positively within a parent-participation school environment and promote an atmosphere of community and cooperation among all stakeholders.

Summary:
Provide leadership in the launch and establishment of Pursuit School including Preschool & Elementary Age Programs. The selected candidate will align with the vision of Pursuit to provide a unique educational environment that reflects strong academics and a commitment to raising students who are strong and effective Christian leaders in the home, church, and community thought and practice. The candidate will be committed to establishing and maintaining an inclusive environment for students of all abilities developing and encouraging their God-given purpose gifts and abilities.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Program Development and Management;
- Develop and source, maintain, and modify curriculum in cooperation with Pursuit Leadership and school board;
- Remain current and informed with developments in education and apply best practices;
- Assure compliance with Washington State requirements and standards for private Christian schools;
- Develop and track benchmarks for measuring success and execute long-range plans towards growth;
- Lead a curriculum that embraces the beliefs and culture of PURSUIT;
- Develop and maintain a good public relations program with school families, local church ministries, and the general public;
- Identify opportunities to promote the school with the assistance of the marketing team;
- Oversee re-enrollment and enrollment and make final admission decisions based on classroom capacity.
Staff Leadership:
- Led and supported staff, including day-to-day operations and special events;
- Schedule adequate coverage, including substitute staff to cover absences;
- Plan, organize, coordinated, and promote professional development, training, and staff meetings;
- Regularly monitor staff performance and provide coaching, mentoring, and leadership for continual improvement. Execute and document annual reviews;
- Provide day-to-day leadership, working with staff to maintain high performance, and providing a positive employee-relations environment;
- Handles grievances of all faculty and staff.
Administration:
- Lead daily administration, including assigning staff responsibilities (aligning with job descriptions), and utilization of classroom spaces and other resources;
- Manage to interview of applicants and provide proper training and onboarding with the assistance of human resources;
- Ensure compliance with applicable local, state, and federal laws, rules, and regulations;
- Plan, inspect, and implement health and safety programs including universal health precautions, emergency procedures, and facility and equipment safety;
- Manage enrollment processes that ensure children are enrolled efficiently, acclimated smoothly, and monitored to ensure success;
- Manage all aspects of student admission and registration. Maintain accurate records of students, including appropriate health history, immunizations, allergies, and limitations of each child. Ensure privacy of all forms;
- Maintain attendance and grading records for all students;
- Maintain necessary records for staff, submitting reports to CFO, including staff hours, time off, and training.
Safety:
- Ensure a safe environment for students and staff;
- Ensure that the facility complies with local, state, and federal regulations;
- Perform routine safety checks and alert leadership and facility personnel of items needing attention.
Fiscal:
- Develop & operate according to the approved budget;
- Administer and collect fees and tuition;
- Purchase equipment, supplies, and materials as needed and approved.
Communication and Leadership:
- Communicate effectively with parents, staff, prospective families, and other stakeholders;
- Maintain regular communication with the constituencies of the school through newsletters, direct mail, weekly news, and website;
- Encourage feedback regarding programs and activities;
- Work with church personnel on the promotion, marketing, and advertising of programs;
- Maintain strong rapport with stakeholders, including church leaders, church staff, and preschool advisory board;
- Lead the school in acquiring ACSI Accreditation.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Be committed to the local church in alignment with positions of Pursuit NW;
- Value Christian education programs;

- Committed to demonstrating in thought and action a lifestyle reflective of Pursuit staff and Biblically based values and standards;
- Be able to pass both local and federal background checks;
- Be flexible to both take on new tasks and delegate old tasks as programs develop;
- Follow all PURSUIT policies and procedures;
- Ability to work in a fast-paced – rapidly growing developmental project setting establishing processes and protocols to lead the school into a recognized center of excellence in academic and spiritual education that is unique to the culture of private schools in our region and representative of the culture of Pursuit.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Certificated Teacher with Master’s Degree Preferred - will consider BA with relevant background/experience;
- Minimum of two years of working experience as a school leader or principal or equivalent;
- Professional-level skills and experience with people, business, and project management;
- Strong organizational, communication, and training skills;
- Entrepreneurial abilities, from big-picture strategy to operational details;
- Ability to lead, recruit, develop, and inspire people, set clear expectations and accountability;
- First aid and CPR certification.
