Principal Architect oversees and manages a team responsible for architectural projects. Reviews and approves architectural procedures and techniques used to complete projects. Ensures architectural designs are completed on time and adhere to the established specifications and standards. Additionally, Principal Architect keeps up to date on the development of new architectural methods or techniques. Requires a bachelor's degree in architecture. Requires a State Architect's License. Typically reports to a director. The Principal Architect typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget.     Key Responsibilities:

    Architectural Design Leadership:

    • Provide strategic direction and oversight for architectural design projects, with a strong focus on design/build methodologies, ensuring alignment with client needs, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
    • Foster innovation and creativity within the design process, driving the development of cutting-edge solutions that exceed client expectations and optimize the design/build approach.
    • Collaborate closely with project teams to maintain design integrity throughout all phases of development, from conceptualization to construction, while emphasizing the seamless integration of design and construction elements.

    Client Engagement and Business Development:

    • Act as the primary point of contact for key clients, particularly those engaged in design/build projects, cultivating strong relationships and understanding their evolving needs and preferences within this context.
    • Lead business development efforts by identifying and pursuing new opportunities for design/build projects, leveraging existing client relationships and networking within the industry.
    • Develop comprehensive proposals, presentations, and pitches to effectively communicate the firm's capabilities and value proposition in design/build project delivery.

    Team Management and Development:

    • Directly manage a team of 30 architects, providing mentorship, guidance, and support to foster professional growth and maximize individual and collective performance in the context of design/build projects.
    • Establish clear goals and performance metrics for team members within the design/build framework, conducting regular evaluations and providing constructive feedback to drive continuous improvement.
    • Promote a collaborative and inclusive work environment that encourages creativity, teamwork, and knowledge sharing among team members, with an emphasis on interdisciplinary collaboration between design and construction professionals.

    National Project Oversight:

    • Oversee the execution of architectural projects on a national scale, with a specific focus on design/build projects, ensuring consistency in quality, efficiency, and adherence to project timelines and budgets.
    • Coordinate with regional offices and project teams to streamline communication and workflow in the context of design/build project delivery, optimizing resource allocation and project delivery processes.
    • Stay abreast of industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies related to design/build project delivery to inform decision-making and maintain the firm's competitive edge in the marketplace.

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture, Engineering, or a related field.
    • Professional licensure as an architect (RA) .
    • Proven track record of successful architectural design/build projects, with a focus on design/build methodologies.
    • Demonstrated experience in client relationship management and business development within the architecture or construction industry, specifically in the context of design/build project delivery.
    • Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a diverse team of professionals within the design/build framework.
    • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
    • Ability to travel nationally as needed to support design/build project requirements and client engagements.
