Principal Architect oversees and manages a team responsible for architectural projects. Reviews and approves architectural procedures and techniques used to complete projects. Being an Principal Architect has a diverse knowledge of architecture principles and practices, uses advanced techniques, and has responsibility for final specifications, approval of ordered materials, and overall guidance on objectives and concepts. Ensures architectural designs are completed on time and adhere to the established specifications and standards. Additionally, Principal Architect keeps up to date on the development of new architectural methods or techniques. Requires a bachelor's degree in architecture. Requires a State Architect's License. Typically reports to a director. The Principal Architect typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be an Principal Architect typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments.   • Under the general supervision of the Director of Education, assist in providing leadership and supervision to administer the educational and extra-curricular programs of the school and to promote the safety and educational development of students in accordance with State and Facility policies, administrative procedures, and all rules, regulations, and applicable laws. Provide leadership in program development, implementation, monitoring, and improvement. Assist in planning and leading program management coordinated with the Activities Department. Serve as Interim Director in the absence of the Director of Education.
    ? Assists in the administration of school programs consistent with school goals and objectives.
    ? Provides leadership, supervision, and direction to staff regarding the ongoing evaluation and improvement.
    ? Assists in supervision of students and events in collaboration with the Activities Department.
    ? Promotes a school environment that is safe and conducive to individualized instruction, cooperative curriculum development, and student learning.
    ? Assists in the preparation of class schedules, master schedules, and extracurricular activities.
    ? Assists in ensuring that Facility policies and procedures are implemented and followed.
    ? Assists faculty and staff in their continual professional growth and encourages them to experiment with new approaches or strategies to teaching to improve student engagement and learning.
    ? Supervises grade level, departments, and projects as assigned.
    ? Assists in coordinating the work of school staff to develop and implement instructional programs and teaching practices.
    ? Conducts ongoing assessment of student learning and works with teaching staff to modify instructional methods to fit students' needs, including students with special needs.
    ? Involves staff in the evaluation of programs and the planning of new programs and activities.
    ? Encourages parental involvement in students' education and ensures effective and professional communication with students and parents.
    ? Ensures that student conduct and attendance conform to the school's standards and Facility policies.
    ? Monitor lesson plans and grade reports
    ? Issues report cards and progress reports
    ? Manage the library and class inventories and compile orders
    ? Monitor incident reports and update Alleva daily notes
    ? Coordinate with Director daily about trending school topics
    ? Keep track of attendance calendar for team
    ? Assist with weekly activity calendar for school-clubs and duties for staff
    ? Facilitate Youth Council Meetings
    ? Other related tasks as assigned by the Director of Education.

    License:
    ? Current Virginia Professional License - Administration and Supervision Pre-K -12 ? required.
    ? Three or more years? successful public teaching experience is required.
    ? School based administrative and/or leadership experience preferred.
    ? Teaching at the secondary level is preferred.
    ? Must be eligible to lawfully work in the United States of America.

    Licenses/Certificates:
    Special Education Credentials preferred.
    Bachelor?s degree required.
    Master?s degree preferred.
