We are searching for a Production Manager to join us in beautiful Traverse City, Michigan. The salary range of $85,000 - $110,000 year; starting salary depends on qualifications. The Production Manager is responsible for the planning, organization, and directing of the activities on the production floor. They are responsible for direct activities of assigned plant personnel and continuously drives improvement on the production floor. This role utilizes resources to achieve results in the areas of safety, production, scrap, and quality. They are additionally responsible for coordinating with plant support staff to complete safety training, quality training, preventive maintenance program implementation, capital forecasting and annual budgeting process. This role directly manages and leads the Production Supervisors and works closely with Human Resources to ensure the fair and consistent implementation of all plant personnel-related policies.
Essential Duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
· Monitors production department’s progress towards department goals.
· Create effective policies and procedures to ensure manufacturing operates at peak efficiency without compromising product safety or integrity.
· Work with supervisors and team leads to assigned employees and equipment for optimized manufacturing efficiencies.
· Inspects machines and equipment to ensure specific operational performance and optimum utilization.
· Monitors staffing and communicates future needs and concerns.
· Defines and recommends objectives in each area of manufacturing. Develops specific short term and long-term plans.
· Makes capital recommendations for budgeting purposes.
· Identifies and implements cost savings. Monitors and reports progress.
· Review production and operating reports and resolves operational, manufacturing, and maintenance problems to ensure minimum costs and prevent operational delays.
· Reviews production orders or schedules to ascertain product data such as types, quantities, and specifications of products and scheduled delivery dates in order to organize workflow to meet specifications and deadlines.
· Reviews production schedule to ensure equipment capabilities and maximum production efficiency.
· Coordinates new product trials with the Quality department.
· Coordinates manufacturing activities to ensure production and quality of products in accordance to said company's quality, and budget specifications.
· Reviews quality data with Quality Manager to ensure that quality standards are maintained.
· Ensures that safety procedures are trained and enforced.
· Keeps the correct parties informed on all abnormal or critical situations.
· Participates in and supports continuous improvement efforts throughout the plant.
· Support, train, and hold department responsible for compliance with safety rules and regulations.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Manages three subordinate supervisors who supervise the employees in the blown film, packaging conversion, clean room, and other assembly operations. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems in consultation with Human Resources.

Education and/or Experience
· Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university; or four to six years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience in Plastics manufacturing is preferred.
· Strong leadership abilities. Analytical and problem-solving skills. Good communication, presentation, and organizational skills.
· Two to three years management experience in a manufacturing environment required
· Lean manufacturing and Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) experience is preferred.
Language Skills
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Computer Skills
· Ability to utilize computer programs for scheduling, time keeping, etc.
