Reviews job specifications and complete setup tasks, including filling ink, calibrating machine, and loading stock. Being a Printer conducts visual inspection of samples prior to running job. Performs in-process quality inspections utilizing standard testing protocols. Additionally, Printer completes all required production logs and documentation. Interprets equipment diagnostics, troubleshoots breakdowns, and makes necessary adjustments to complete the job. Performs regular maintenance, cleaning, and changeovers of press from one job to another. Maintains a clean and safe workspace. Requires a high school diploma or equivalent. QUALIFICATIONS:
3 years minimum automatic screen printing experience required. Must have proficient color theory, press setup / multi-color registration & press operation for both manual & auto machines is preferred. Must be familiar with printing on all types of garment blends using both plastisol & water base inks. Table rigs and flat stock printing are a plus. Also proficiency in heat applied applications is ideal.
NATURE & SCOPE: Works under the direction of the Print Manager with some exercise of independent judgment. Core duties begin with supporting the head printers with press setup and end with press breakdown and repeat. Also each screen printer is required to help when necessary with any prepress duties. This would include but not limited to burning screens, color matching inks, taping up and pin hole checking screens, receiving goods, staging orders by print priority, cleaning equipment and production area.
CHARACTERISTICS:
All production employees are expected to possess clear vision, correct color perception and hand-eye coordination. Attention to detail is crucial. Since screen printing is considered a skilled trade job, it is best suited for people who enjoy practical manual work. Other important traits include self-motivation, problem solving skills, creativity, organizational skills and knowledge of the screen printing equipment.
JOB SUMMARY:
The Screen Printer is responsible for setting up (registering) each print job and helps operate both automatic and manual screen printing stations according to written and/or verbal instructions, established company procedures, safety, and quality guidelines. A successful screen printer has a high attention to detail and is alert to the changes happening during production jumping in where help is needed to prevent production mistakes and delays.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes, chemicals, and heat. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud. Employees must also be willing to handle and mix the chemicals and inks used in screen printing as well as keeping focus in a hot production floor environment during the summer months.
