Printer completes print production jobs on various types of printing press machines, including digital, flexographic, web, screen, or others. Reviews job specifications and complete setup tasks, including filling ink, calibrating machine, and loading stock. Being a Printer conducts visual inspection of samples prior to running job. Performs in-process quality inspections utilizing standard testing protocols. Additionally, Printer completes all required production logs and documentation. Interprets equipment diagnostics, troubleshoots breakdowns, and makes necessary adjustments to complete the job. Performs regular maintenance, cleaning, and changeovers of press from one job to another. Maintains a clean and safe workspace. Requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Printer works under moderate supervision. Gaining or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline. This is part-time, skilled work in the operation of duplicating equipment and related printing shop tasks. Work involves driving to deliver print orders and to pick up printing supplies; operation of digital printing equipment and an offset press; and the operation of paper cutters, punchers, trimmers, staplers, joggers, power drills, binders, and mailing inserter and collating equipment. Work includes shared responsibility for the timely processing of work orders and the completion of work assignments in a safe and efficient manner; ordering and maintaining supplies; and maintaining records of operations. Work requires application of excellent customer service skills; good oral communication skills; attention to detail for efficiency, proper volume, neatness, and clarity; and the ability to perform basic math calculations involving quantities and measurements quickly and accurately.
