    Under the direction of the Chief Compliance and Privacy Officer, the Privacy Specialist assists with all activities related to the ongoing development and implementation of Kings View’s agency-wide Privacy Program. The Privacy Specialist performs a variety of duties to ensure Kings View’s 30 service programs comply with state and federal privacy laws, government regulations, internal policies and procedures, and contractual obligations. This position provides support and guidance to program managers, clinicians, psychiatrists and administrative staff to ensure clients’ legal privacy rights are protected while simultaneously building strong, collaborative relationships with Program staff.


    How will I contribute

    • Develop, update and implement privacy policies and procedures.
    • Lead monitoring activities, privacy audits, and risk assessments to identify and correct non-compliance with privacy regulations that safeguard Protected Health Information (PHI) and Personally Identifiable Information (PII)
    • Plan and implement employee privacy education and training including developing training materials, giving in-person presentations, and monitoring completion of mandated training.
    • Facilitate, and promote activities to foster privacy awareness across the organization.
    • Coordinate response to records requests and subpoenas for records and/or court appearance.
    • Respond to reported privacy incidents including conducting formal investigations, completing breach risk assessment, preparing a formal written report of findings and recommendations, and ensure breaches are reported in compliance with state and federal regulations.
    • Act as a resource for privacy-related inquiries and provide guidance to staff at all levels.
    • Represent the Privacy Program on the Leadership Team.
    • Research, analyze, and prepare written reports for senior management.
    • Review Kings View vendor contracts and advise as re privacy obligations including determining if a BAA or QSO Agreement is required.
    • Analyze and determine program privacy requirements and collaborate with program management to develop and implement procedures to comply with the identified requirements.
    • Remain current about changes in state and federal privacy laws and regulations. including HIPAA, 42 CFR Part 2, LPS.
    • Other duties and projects as assigned.

    What I bring

    • Bachelor's degree in Healthcare, law, healthcare administration, regulatory compliance, or related required
    • Class C Driving License Required
    • 2 years of experience working as a health care privacy professional. Experience evaluating and auditing privacy compliance matters to identify operational issues and recommend and implement strategies to resolve compliance problems.
    • Knowledge and application of federal and state healthcare privacy laws and regulations including HIPAA, 42 CFR Part 2, and Lanterman-Petris-Short- Act ( W & I 5328)
    • Strong computer skills – MS Office (excel, Word, PowerPoint). Ability to effectively manage multiple projects within specified timeframes. Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities. Writing skills including policy, audit, and investigation reports.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills that foster cooperative compliance. Self-starter with a can do-attitude, ability to work independently, and adapt to changing business needs.
    • Experience working as a behavioral health privacy professional in a clinical environment preferred
