The Privacy Program Director is responsible for the continued development and implementation of the UC Davis Health Privacy Program. The Manager will oversee the team performing all ongoing activities related to the Privacy Program administration, including: the maintenance of policies and procedures, completion of Annual Compliance Work Plan activities, the performance of privacy auditing and monitoring activities, and review and management of all reported privacy activities. The Manager will also be responsible for serving as the Health System’s subject matter expert on regulatory privacy matters and research privacy including the review, application and interpretation of state and federal privacy laws.

• Juris Doctorate or Master’s degree in Public Health, Public Policy, or Law
• Extensive demonstrated years of experience working in in a health care or related setting.
• Experience maintaining a high degree of discretion, integrity, and sensitivity to confidentiality and privacy.
• Extensive knowledge of the laws, rules and regulations that govern health care privacy including but not limited to HIPAA, HITECH, OCR advisories, and CMIA.
• Extensive analytical reasoning with the ability to navigate complex problems and provide resolution to senior leadership.
• Interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills to clearly and effectively interact with a diverse group of individuals at all levels within the organization to secure and/or provide information to clarify situations, resolve problems, and to foster and promote the goals of the organization.
• Leadership skills to implement new systems and processes that improve the overall effectiveness of the unit and proven success training, mentoring, leading and motivating staff through a team approach.
• Skills to manage a high work volume with changing priorities, frequent interruptions and in stressful situations; work cooperatively with a positive attitude.
• Working knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, electronic medical record systems or similar system.

• Experience conducting investigations.
