PCA Employment Opportunity

Position Summary

We are looking for PCAs to work with our developmentally disabled young adult son. He is easy going, mild mannered, and loves people & participating in activities. He is wheelchair bound and requires assistance for all cares and activities. Primary duties will be conducted in our Duluth home with opportunities to enjoy activities out in the community.

All training is provided. No previous experience necessary but must pass a background check. PCA selects their own schedule. Looking to fill shifts during the following times: Mon-Thurs 3:15 PM – 9:00 PM; Every other weekend 9:00 AM – 9:00 PM. Additional hours available during school breaks and summer break.

Pay & Perks

• Flexible scheduling. Full and part-time hours available.
• $19.00/hr
• Retention bonus and stipends for completing qualifying training.
• Bonus pay (1.5x) for working designated holidays.

Responsibilities – following successful completion of training (no previous experience required)

• Assist client with activities of daily living: dressing, oral hygiene, bathing, grooming, toileting, and other personal hygiene needs.
• Health related functions: administration of medication, tube feedings, suction, at-home therapy/exercises, etc.
• Perform transfers, turning, and positioning.
• Plan and facilitate activities at home and in the community: play games, make crafts, bowling, movies, walks, etc.
• Maintain client confidentiality: treat client and family with respect.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as deemed necessary.

Requirements/Qualifications

• Demonstrated dependability, tact, and ability to follow instructions and procedures.
• Interpersonal skills: sensitivity and compassion toward client.
• Well-organized and reliable.
• Excellent communication and people skills.
• Ability to work with little direct supervision and make appropriate judgements.
• Be able to pass a background check.
• Valid driver’s license and proof of insurance.
