  • SUMMARY:

    The CAD Drafter (CD) works in support of the Modesto Quality Assurance/Purchasing Manager, project engineers, project managers and superintendents to assist with construction project drawings.

    The CD plays a central role in maintaining open communication and partnerships with customers, suppliers, subcontractors and all APCCO team members. This emphasizes the need for the CD to maintain a problem-solving mindset, to anticipate problems and to develop constructive and balanced solutions.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Essential functions/responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

    Productivity and Quality

    • Generate drawings
    • Lay out drawing set
    • Prepare as-built package
    • Assists the engineer in providing:

    o Concept Drawings for quoting projects

    o Developing Drawing Package for Permit and Construction purposes

    o Updating and/or tracking changes to the Drawing Package during Construction

    o Developing any detail drawings required for construction

    o Finalizing the Drawing Package and P&ID’s when the Project is complete for the manuals and RMP/PSM purposes

    o Developing and Finalizing the Equipment and Valve schedule that accompanies the P&ID’s

    • Provide quality control in order to find and solve issues before they become liabilities
    • Responsible for working with design team to creating drawing sets of all types
    • Create Drawings that ensure projects are built to all governing codes and APCCO standards
    • Maintain and provide information to clients, engineers, and construction teams, ensuring job progress
    • Organize and store job information in such a way that protects APCCO’s interest and provides easy access
    • Assist design team with calculations and piping practices information
    • Assist sales team with Job estimation to provide knowledge of standards and piping practices

    Customer Contact

    • Make decisions based on customer needs, desires, and expectations and on APCCO standards, not on personal preferences, style or theory
    • Maintain free-flowing information and cooperation between customer and APCCO project team
    • Work with project team to find best approaches to handle customer request.

    Financial

    • Track time spent on Project
    • Use resources in most effective manner (including sharing cost savings ideas with project management team)
    • Abide by approved budgets

    • Support a positive team atmosphere by modeling and promoting teamwork, diversity, cooperation, communication, professionalism, and respectful mannerisms among all APCCO team members, and hold others accountable to do the same.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

    • Working knowledge of AutoCAD • Extensive knowledge of piping practices and APCCO standards
    • Advanced knowledge of 3D and of appropriate platforms such as AutoCAD, Revit, Solid Works, Vault etc.
    • Ability to use all related construction equipment. Occasionally there is a need to use all types of construction equipment including forklifts, and man lifts
    • Become fluent in Microsoft Project and all other APCCO computer programs and applications
    • Ability to operate general office equipment (Computer, printer, fax, copier, mailing center, etc.

    POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK:

    This is a full-time position. Days and hours are Monday through Friday _8_am to _5_ pm, however, based on the needs of the job, work hours may vary.

    TRAVEL:

    Travel is expected for this position, based on the needs of the job.

    REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

    • Associates Degree or an industry standard certificate in drafting from an accredited educational institute
    • 5 years of drafting experience
    • 2 years of Revit experience
    • All APCCO employees who drive company owned vehicles or drive their own vehicle for company purposes:

     Must read, understand, and follow the requirements of the APCCO Motor Vehicle Policy and Vehicle Maintenance Policy

     Maintain a valid driver’s license

     Provide a clear DMV record that is insurable with our company vehicle insurance carrier, including no accidents, incidents, or DUI in the past 5 years (and updated annually)

     Participate in company-sponsored programs to maintain or improve driver safety

    Job Type: Full-time

    Pay: $25.00 - $45.00 per hour

    Expected hours: 40 per week
