GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Operate sulfuric acid plant, water treatment facility (PEP Plant) and other auxiliary process equipment.
Record, interpret readings and make appropriate process changes to ensure plant is operating efficiently and within limits.
Interface with computerized process control systems.
Conduct rounds to inspect equipment and take readings.
Start and stop equipment. Open, close and align valves.
Troubleshoot process and equipment issues.
Assist with life critical permits.
Prepare equipment lock out and tag out.
Assist in loading and unloading of railcars and tank cars.
Some tasks will require donning and using of special personal protective clothing (PPE), respirator and breathing air bottle.
HS&E RESPONSIBILITIES
Understand HSE is highest priority.
Ensure safe operation and no violations of environmental permits for all process units. Participate in plant safety program.
Follow plant rules and procedures.
This position is given the authority to stop work when plant cannot be operated in a safe manner.
Each process technician is responsible to coordinate a safe and effective emergency response within the limits of training received, which includes Incident Command System.
They are responsible for the control of site access after hour.
SPECIFIC JOB REQUIREMENTS
Able to learn and work with a variety of equipment and machinery.
Able to learn and read diagrams and schematics.
Proficient with hand tools.
Have basic reading comprehension, math and computer skills.
Able to work day, night and weekend shift.
Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and Three plus years of experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment. Chemical industry preferred.
OR
P-Tech degree from an accredited college or university.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Operators working in the PEP plant will be trained to operate the front end loader and forklift.
