Process Engineer develops and optimizes continuous production and manufacturing processes to achieve the output, quality, and cost goals of the organization. Collects production data and applies standard scientific and statistical methods to analyze, document, and diagram production processes. Being a Process Engineer identifies process bottlenecks and devises solutions to resolve. Recommends changes or upgrades to equipment, work methods, or other aspects of the process to improve efficiency and utilization of resources including labor, energy and raw materials. Additionally, Process Engineer requires a bachelor's degree of engineering. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Process Engineer works on projects/matters of limited complexity in a support role. Work is closely managed. To be a Process Engineer typically requires 0-2 years of related experience.     -- Provide technical support for new and existing chemical processes; troubleshoot, optimize, and identify improvements.
    -- Engineer and design process scale-up from pilot plant to full scale production.
    -- Evaluate process capability and unit operation deficiencies for new processes/ products.
    -- Develop costing for new processes and evaluate profitability.
    -- Generate PFDs and P&IDs for “cradle-to-grave” processes
    -- Assist Plant Engineering with Process Change Requests (PCR) and implementation.
    -- Assist Engineering with Instrument/Automation/Control and interlock strategies.
    -- Work with chemist / R&D to evaluate the practical technical aspects for safe scale-up for pilot plant and commercial scale including cost, safety and workability considerations.
    -- Determine specifications for raw materials and in-process samples.
    -- Interfaces with external and internal customers on new processes.
    -- Generate Technology Transfer Package and transition new processes to Operations.
    -- Participate in HAZOP reviews, PHAs and MOC strategies..
    -- Develop Batch Sheets and Procedures (also campaign change-over).
    -- Provide operator training as needed.
