Job Summary

The role of the process engineer is to evaluate existing processes and identify systems that improve production, reliability, and sustainability, reduce cost, and develop best practices. The process engineer works as part of a diverse team to evaluate and implement solutions that safely and efficiently meet production goals while maintaining high ethical and compliance standards. 

Essential Job Functions

• Develop an understanding of various plant processes.
• Gather data and analyze existing processes for cost savings, reliability, and performance improvement opportunities.
• Coordinate with plant groups to implement process changes.
• Work with a variety of production and maintenance colleagues to safely meet daily operational needs.
• Support operation and supervision requirements during occasional shutdown and weekend coverage.
• Provide process knowledge to major capital projects.
• Support and comply with all food safety, quality, and legality requirements.
• Actively participates in training and mentors fellow employees.
• Manages resources and monitors status of projects to achieve targeted outcomes.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Able to work in a variety of plant environments including confined spaces, elevated heights, inside, and outside and ability to climb stairs is required.

• Able to understand and comply with plant GMP and personnel practice requirements.

Education

• Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Agricultural Engineering is required.

Experience

• 1-5 years of experience in a continuous process operating plant environment, preferably in a corn processing plant.
• Familiarity with P&ID's, Control Narratives, quality and environmental documentation, mechanical troubleshooting capability and general knowledge of controller hardware/software is preferred.
• Project Management experience a plus.
