WHAT THE ROLE DELIVERS
This is an amazing opportunity to influence and be a part of the Bay City Plant startup team at our new state-of-the-art MMA production facility!
The Process Engineer provides support for the Röhm America Production Site in Bay City, Texas, Manufacturing Operation comprising the Formalin, MAL, MMA Reaction, and Purification plants, as well as Utilities. This role is responsible for all aspects of process engineering for the safe and efficient operation of process equipment. This role will additionally lead, develop, and/or contribute to process improvements aligning closely with related functions within the organization.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
Identify and implement process optimization measures.
Develop and deploy digital operation tools and methods.
Develop and perform data analyses and evaluations.
Analyze process operation malfunctions and develop mitigation measures.
Apply technical knowledge to detect causes and provide solutions for deviations in production, quality, and engineering processes.
Actively participate in Process Safety Management work practices such as Management of Change (MOC) and Process Hazard Analysis (PHA).
Continuously study, understand, and update P&IDs.
Lead troubleshooting task forces and minimize downtime.
Work in close collaboration with the R&D department to develop and implement process optimization measures.
Prepare reports as needed summarizing the status of ongoing projects.
Ensure / support that adequate process related equipment maintenance systems and programs are in place, and that such programs are operated in a safe, and efficient manner and meet or exceed all regulatory requirements.
Develop and maintain process related documentation (P&IDs, PFDs, etc.)
Other duties as assigned.
WHAT WE ARE SEEKING
Bachelor’s or more advanced degree in Chemical Engineering from an accredited institution.
A minimum of 2 years of experience, or prior experience in a related coop or intern role, within the Chemical or Process Industry, preferably in a chemical manufacturing environment.
Strong technical skills with ability to work collaboratively with other departments and international teams.
Must demonstrate a working knowledge of all applicable engineering principles and standards and their application.
Knowledge of operating processes, equipment, and materials, as well as critical analysis skills are needed to effectively evaluate manufacturing performance and develop improvements.
Proficient with MS Office.
Familiar with and the ability to learn SAP, process simulation tools and other process engineering applications such as Aspen and related applications.
Continuous improvement mindset with the ability and desire to utilize digitalization and new process methods.
Excellent communication skills including the ability to present detailed information across all levels of the organization.
Must be able to organize and handle multiple projects and tasks to meet targeted completion deadlines.
Ability to work without guidance or supervision.
This position will follow a standard weekly schedule, however availability for weekend and holiday coverage during shutdowns and critical use periods may be required.
Physical ability to work around and on industrial equipment, including frequent climbing of stairs and ladders and ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in designated areas (respirator, hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, steel toed shoes, and hearing protection).
