JOB OVERVIEW:
Responsible for all aspects of the Engineering department to include the proper operation, maintenance and repair of all HVAC, refrigeration, pools/water features, plumbing, electrical, irrigation, life safety, electrical and mechanical equipment/systems. Develop, coordinate and monitor all guest rooms and public spaces, equipment, and PM programs to ensure the reliability, safety, and comfort of all staff, guest, and residents. Supervise, train and manage all Engineering staff.
REPORTS TO: Director Of Engineering
SUPERVISES: All Engineering Staff.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Engineering work shops, all areas of the resort.
Job involves working:
KEY RELATIONSHIPS:
Internal: General Manager, Engineering staff and all resort personnel.
External: Resort guest/visitors, resident guest/visitor, equipment/supply vendors, city inspectors, local fire department, building trade contractors, service contractors, the Owners, and other resort Chief Engineers.
Essential:
1. High school graduate or equivalent vocational training.
2. 5 years training as a stationary Engineer.
3. 5 years supervisory experience.
4. Working knowledge of:
a) plumbing codes
b) electrical codes
c) national/local fire codes
d) local mechanical codes
e) water treatment program
f) blue prints and plumbing and wiring schematics
g) power and hand tools, meters, etc. as it relates to the technical trades
5. Knowledge of all mechanical equipment critical to the operation of the building.
6. Fluency in job related English both verbal and non-verbal.
7. Provide legible communication and directions.
8. Compute basic mathematical calculations (add, subtract, multiply and divide numbers).
9. Ability to:
prepare budgets and ensure cost controls.
enforce resort's standards, policies and procedures with engineering staff.
prioritize and organize work assignments; delegate work to Supervisors and staff.
direct performance of staff and follow up with corrections where needed.
instruct/direct staff in the operation, maintenance and repair of equipment.
ascertain staff training needs and provide such training.
be a clear thinker, analyze and resolve problems exercising good judgment.
Work well under pressure.
understand guest inquiries, provide responses and interact positively.
trouble-shoot and use alternatives in emergencies.
ensure security and confidentiality of all resort information.
interact positively with resort personnel and provide prompt solutions to problems.
Desirable:
1. Any building trade license/certificate from the state of FLA.
2. 5 years apprenticeship in stationary Engineers program or 5 years’ experience as maintenance stationary Engineer.
3. Ability to communicate in a second language, preferably Spanish.
4. Computer literate.
