Introduction to the jobThe Process Engineering Mgr will manage a small team of optical fabrication process engineers. Relevant areas of manufacturing expertise includes lapping, polishing, machining, CNC machining, interferometry and optical measurements.
Role and responsibilities
1. Provide managerial and technical leadership for 5~10 process engineers responsible for various optical fabrication processes.
2. Own and drive process improvements in terms of quality, cycle time, throughput, safety.
3. Solve issues through root cause investigation and corrective actions.
4. Identify metrics and track the team's performance using KPIs.
5. Qualify new process tools and process changes.
6. Implement SPC and put process controls in place.
7. Partner with production staff to instill quality through process adherence and collaboration.
8. Participate in design reviews to ensure design manufacturability.
Education and experience1. BS degree - Mechanical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Material Science, Ceramic/Glass Science, or related field.
2. 10 or more years experience in optical manufacturing of either plano or spherical optics.
3. 3 or more years experience managing engineers in a manufacturing environment.
