Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments.     Job Summary:

    Evaluates customer order requirements to determine manufacturing methods and costs. Plans, directs, and coordinates manufacturing processes in production by performing the following duties.

     

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

    • Develops, evaluates, and improves processes and methods for a diversity of new and existing manufactured products using customer supplied drawings, solid models and specifications.
    • Works with Quality department to evaluate product, create rework procedures and develop effective corrective actions.
    • Evaluates quotations/production orders to determine manufacturability.
    • Estimates production times, staffing requirements, and related costs such as: tooling, material, finishing and associated outsourcing costs, to provide information for formal quotation process. Generates quotes in support of sales efforts.
    • Confers with planning and design staff (sales, vendors, customers) concerning product design, specifications and technical documentation to ensure smooth transition from design to production, resolving technical problems which impact quality, delivery and cost of products.
    • Specifies bills of material and routings needed to manufacture components to established standards.
    • Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineers to develop robust manufacturing processes.
    • Generate various manufacturing operation drawings in compliance with ASME Y14.5.
    • Write Technical Work Instructions.
    • Specifies and evaluates suppliers and outside contractors.
    • Manages a multitude of projects concurrently from design/concept to delivery in conformance with customer requirements.
    • Works with a team of associates, providing technical leadership in area of expertise.
    • Applies statistical methods to estimate future manufacturing requirements and potential.
    • Occasionally lead or participate in special projects and initiatives.

    • Excellent understanding of GD&T.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

    • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
    • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
    • Ability to prioritize tasks and work with minimal oversight.
    • Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
    • Proficient with Cad and other software specific to manufacturing.
    • High level of understanding of machining processes

    EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

    • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering with four or more years of applied experience; or six years of related experience and/or training in a CNC machining environment; or equivalent combination of education and experience. 
    • Position requires an independent thinker with strong leadership and analytical skills. 
    • Must be familiar with print reading and geometric tolerance applications. 
    • Training in DOE and Six Sigma advantageous. Solidworks experience preferred.
