Process Engineering Technician provides technical support to engineers to ensure production goals of the organization are met. Provides assistance related to the review of existing and design of new manufacturing equipment, processes, and plants. Being a Process Engineering Technician may suggest or implement equipment purchases, modifications or calibration changes that could result in improved productivity or reduced costs related to production. Requires a high school diploma or its equivalent. Additionally, Process Engineering Technician typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Process Engineering Technician may require 0-1 year of general work experience. Possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job.     Profil du candidat
    • B.S. in engineering or closely related field.
    • At least 10 years of refining or chemical industry experience including Process Safety Management
    • Worked at or responsible for PSM implementation at a refinery or petrochemical plant covered under the OSHA PSM Standard.
    • Experience in leading / facilitating risk assessment studies (QRAs, HAZOP, LOPA, Fault Tree, FMEA, SWIFT, etc.)
    • The position requires strong computer skills with a strong knowledge of basic database functionality and ability to master risk assessment software applications
    • This position requires a thorough knowledge of risk management concept
    • Facilitation skills, strong communication skills, team player, self-motivated
    • Project Management skills – ability to layout and run a multi-year compliance improvement project in Process safety.
    Activités
    • Develop refinery PSM programs working within the refinery, i.e., Operations, Mechanical, Technical, Administrative (HR/Training), HSSE and Planning and Logistics departments.
    • Provide expertise and technical support to maintain Process Safety and Risk Assessment Information.
    • Develop the risk assessment and process safety knowledge of the LBU and RPA personnel. Maintain the LBU Risk Register
    • Assist in measuring the progress of Process Safety Management at the LBU through establishing and report against key performance indicators.
    • Work with other RPA LBU’s to develop and implement new process safety initiatives.
    • Assist with and verify risk assessment calculations.
    • Lead, implement and manage Functional Safety Management program
    • Participate in RPA Process Safety Management and trade association meetings.
    • Assist other LBU as required with RPA/HSSE Safety Program
    • Supervise two Senior Engineers-Process Safety and a PSM Specialist
    Contexte et environnement
    • The function of the Process Safety group is to review and assess the risks of the refinery processes and make recommendations to minimize, mitigate or eliminate the risks to the people, assets and business of the company.
    • Contacts include refinery manager, department managers, superintendents, process supervisors, supervisors, engineers, process coordinators, hourly and corporate support staff.
    • Position requires good inter-departmental work relationships to ensure company and regulatory requirements are met for current and future operations.
    • Outside refinery contacts include regulatory agencies, government officials, and local community officials and other RPA staff.
    • Interaction with and oversight of vendors is required to ensure work is done accurately within budget and schedule
