Your role involves motivating staff to achieve Credit Union strategic goals, monitoring product and service performance, identifying opportunities for improvement and automation, and ensuring compliance with all relevant laws and regulations. TASKS, DUTIES, FUNCTIONS: Collaborate closely with the Director of Payment Operations to develop and implement new programs, products, and services. Provide regular updates on Item Processing and Checking Operations functions to management, attending project meetings as necessary. Strong leadership abilities to lead cross-functional teams, set priorities, and drive product development efforts. Serve as an advocate for projects and enhancements that impact the Credit Union's check processing through ATM, mobile deposit, and branches. Ensure these initiatives align with organizational goals and effectively meet the needs of members. Act as a subject matter expert on the Credit Union's funds availability program, providing guidance and insights to internal teams and stakeholders. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and optimize the program to enhance member experience. Develop, interpret, and report program analytics. Utilize available reporting to propose operational improvements based on internal and industry benchmarks. Research and respond to member inquiries through various communication channels on behalf of Golden 1, ensuring timely and accurate resolution. Ensure daily Service Level Agreements (SLAs) are met, tracking, and analyzing performance metrics to identify areas for improvement and ensure efficient operations. Maintain a comprehensive understanding of state and federal laws and regulations related to Credit Union compliance, ensuring policies and procedures are consistently upheld. Foster a positive work environment by promoting skill development, coaching, and empowering staff to achieve their career goals. Implement programs for career development and provide opportunities for continuous learning and growth within the team. Keep Director of Payment Operations informed of any performance issues, ensuring timely resolution and communication to all stakeholders. Oversee monthly validation of statement processing and ensure accurate processing of invoices. Review procedural recommendations for efficiency and compliance, taking appropriate actions to enhance operations. Provide training, development, and coaching to supervisors and staff. Manage staffing needs and performance appraisals. Lead new and ongoing projects related to Item Processing and Checking Operations, staying informed of industry trends and developments. Ensure timely compliance with regulatory requirements and monitor internal controls to safeguard the Credit Union's assets. Vendor Management: Review, recommend, and negotiate vendor contracts. Monitor vendor performance and maintain professional relationships. Monitor and explain variances within General Ledgers (GLs), ensuring accuracy and accountability in financial reporting.   PHYSICAL SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND EXERTION UTILIZED IN THE PERFORMANCE OF THESE TASK: Effective oral and written communication skills required. Strong knowledge in Check Acceptance, Funds Availability and Fraud detection. Critical thinking skills are needed to identify possible fraudulent activity and member escalations or inquires. Must possess sufficient manual dexterity to skillfully operate an on-line computer terminal and other standard office equipment, such as financial calculators, personal computer, facsimile machine, and telephone. ORGANIZATIONAL CONTACTS & RELATIONSHIPS: INTERNAL: All levels of staff and management. EXTERNAL: Members, vendors, Banks including the Federal Reserve, suppliers, and government agencies, industry peers. QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree in related field or equivalent work experience. EXPERIENCE:   5 years’ experience of management or supervisory responsibilities within financial institution with oversight of Operational Teams. 3 years’ experience in planning, developing, and coordinating projects desired. Strong understanding of regulatory compliance requirements. For example: Reg E, Reg D, Reg CC, Federal Reserve Bank, government agencies and general banking rules. Previous experience in item processing or related financial roles is preferred.   KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS: Strong attention to detail and accuracy in handling financial transactions. High level of awareness and vigilance in identifying potential fraudulent checks. Excellent communication skills to interact with internal business partners. Ability to multitask and manage time efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Demonstrated ability to work well in a team-oriented environment. Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Professional member relations skills Proficient computer skills and software experience. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Prolonged sitting throughout the workday with occasional mobility required. Corrected vision within the normal range. Hearing within normal range.  A device to enhance hearing will be provided if needed. Occasional movements throughout the department daily to interact with staff, accomplish tasks, etc. LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS: NCP (National Check Payments) Certification desired but not required.
