- Is responsible for achieving departmental/area goals and objectives.
- Supervises semi to highly skilled production and/or maintenance employees on an assigned shift to ensure the manufacture of products within established delivery, quality, safety and cost standards.
- The supervisor is the first-line liaison between the production employees and the management staff and thus also serves the function of representing the company's interests with the shop floor staff.
Duties:
- Establishes employee environment regarding communications, feedback and overall guidance.
- Ensures that assigned personnel have appropriate training, work instruction and tools to successfully do their job.
- Monitors Control Plans, troubleshoots workmanship problems and generally supervises production activities to ensure that manufactured products meet or exceed all established quality requirements.
- Administers employee policies, practices, procedures and work rules appropriate for the unit.
- Monitors individual and line performance and takes corrective action including discipline, as needed and responds to complaints to ensure the Company and employees adheres to policies, practices, procedures and work rules.
- Determines manufacturing and/or distribution priorities based on the production schedule and makes daily assignments including filling vacancies and assigning overtime in order to adhere to the Customer Delivery date.
- Plans for maintenance of equipment and facilities to maximize the uptime and utilization of capital equipment assets. Monitors and makes corrections to stay within the department operating budget targets.
- Directs departmental continuous improvement plans and activities. Implements and monitors safety programs and housekeeping.
Shift:
- This position will work off-shift, either 2nd (2:30 pm to 11 pm) or 3rd shift (10:30 pm to 7 am). Overtime is likely either on weekends or extended weekday hours.
Education
Ideally you will have a degree or equivalent related work experience in the following:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering, other equivalent technical discipline (or 5 years in a maintenance role within a foundry environment)
As an Off-shift Maintenance Supervisor for the Client Foundry located in Waterloo, IA, you will provide supervision to, and schedule work for the skilled trades employees maintaining foundry equipment. In addition, you will:
- Give safety, environmental, and ergonomic leadership to direct reports to ensure that they work safely and all work that they complete complies with safety, environmental, and ergonomic standards and regulations
- Ensure all environmental, safety, and preventive maintenance work is completed accurately and on time
- Recognize equipment repairs and improvements and work with maintenance engineering to scope, plan, and prioritize these projects
- Ensure that assigned personnel have appropriate training, work instruction and tools to successfully do their job
- Lead safety through regular safety communications, driving engagement in the CI Safety and Ergonomic Risk Assessment process, prompt near miss reporting with a focus on quick, thorough safety corrective actions
- Ability to work daily and weekend overtime as dictated by the needs of production
- Lead employee engagement activities, while establishing a positive employee environment through communications, feedback and overall guidance
- What Skills You Need (Required skills/experiences)
- Experience using SAP plant maintenance for scheduling work and purchasing repair components
- 5 or more years of experience maintaining industrial equipment
- Experience trouble-shooting complex hydraulic, pneumatic or electrical systems
- Plans and prioritizes work effectively, adapting for changing conditions
- Good understanding of in the 1910 OSHA CFR
- Competent using Microsoft Office
- Excellent communicator, who thrives on solving problems and working in a team environment

- Experience troubleshooting machines using RS Logix
- Good Understanding of 480V Power Distribution
- 5 or more years of experience working in foundry maintenance
- 5 or more years of experience in maintenance supervision
