Leads the development, curation, and deployment of marketing content and identifies appropriate sales channels. Additionally, Product/Brand Management Manager, Sr. translates marketing initiatives into specific projects and actionable plans.     Position Summary 

     

    The Sr. Manager of Engineering and Facilities is responsible for supporting the fluctuating needs of a growing organization through process improvement initiatives and short and long term strategic planning of the Maintenance Organization. The SR. Manager of Engineering and Facilities leads maintenance team to support the material handling, facilities, and daily supply chain operations by utilizing processes and standard operating procedures in order to achieve financial and operational excellence.  The ideal candidate has exceptional verbal and written communication skills, a history of leading maintenance or engineering teams, and driving successful results in support of Supply Chain operations.

     

    The qualified candidate will be responsible for managing and implementing various process improvements to help drive efficiency and service with focus on support of the operational departments.  In addition, s/he will also be responsible for establishing processes and procedures to increase efficiency and effectiveness through optimization of people, process and performance to achieve service excellence.  This position will require a passion for leading teams, process excellence, a drive for results, and the ability to partner cross functionally and influence across all levels of the organization.  In addition, the Sr. Manager of Engineering and Facilities acts as the SME for a wide variety of cutting edge material handling systems, automation and electronics equipment for ULTA’s Distribution Center(s). The Sr. Manager of Engineering and Facilities will play a key role in maintaining all the equipment to ensure minimal downtime and thus minimizing operations interruption. This includes developing a staff of managers, hourly associates, and contractors.

     

    PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES (Essential Functions)

     

    The Sr. Manager of Engineering and Facilities, is a champion of Ulta Beauty’s mission, vision, and values, and should demonstrate them skillfully and consistently through the following (as well as all other projects/duties as assigned):

     

    Performance     

    • Influences accountability to plan, execute, and achieve objectives in order to implement process improvements that align with company strategy for growth and profit
    • Identifies patterns and anticipates needs to the business that will drive performance by monitoring the performance/relationship and budgets of all maintenance vendors used by the business
    • Delivers quality solutions that meet the constraints of time, cost, and scope
    • Maintains comprehensive technical subject matter expertise of existing ULTA material handling systems and technology specifications. This includes varying types of package and pallet conveyors, sortation systems and other specialty equipment
    • Identifies optimal trade-offs or risks of material handling equipment downtime, safety, and budget conscious constraints
    • Ensures all operational areas operate within a safe workplace and adhere to company health and safety policies and procedures as well as meeting stated aims and KPI’s.
    • Measures the effect of process changes and accurately quantifies the impact
    • Delivers complete facilities maintenance service within budget, meeting all contracted KPI’s.

     People

     

    • Collaborates cross-functionally to launch new initiatives, and track and analyze performance
    • Raises awareness of process change impact throughout the enterprise by partnering with appropriate HQ resources and vendors on issues that require additional scoping, involve system changes, or have network-level impact. Identify and escalate issues and, when necessary, pull appropriate teams together to solve problems.
    • Facilitates proactive change management to all levels of the organization impacted by project rollouts
    • Influences key stakeholders to achieve results in an autonomous manner
    • Meets regularly with the Maintenance Organizational Teams, communicating all on-going maintenance activities, and updating on current project works.
    • Liaise with key suppliers to ensure that parts supply and subcontracted services are delivered to within acceptable standards, and to budget.
    • Manages and monitors the performance of their directly employed teams and contractors to ensure they meet required standards and KPIs.

     

    Process

     

    • Analyzes data to determine appropriate actions needed to optimize results
    • Assesses and modifies systems where system performance does not meet operational expectations and design specifications in close partnership with operational and technical experts
    • Determines the most efficient sequence of operations and workflow, and recommends methods for maximum asset and people utilization
    • Conducts periodic inspections of all company equipment within the facility
    • Recommends methods for improving associate efficiency and reducing wasted of time and effort, such as restructuring job duties, reorganizing workflow and job setup
    • Participates in training and testing for new systems and processes as part of implementation plan
    • Manages all other site maintenance requirements, across a wide range of disciplines, through company approved vendors

    Talent Development/Leadership Development

    • In partnership with Director of Engineering and Facilities, DC Director, and leadership team, identify ways to build and implement talent capabilities at all levels while identifying opportunities for training and development
    • In partnership with Director of Engineering and Facilities, DC Director, and leadership team lead and participate in talent calibration, culture survey action planning, goal setting and rollout, and performance review consultation, and IDP creation and execution
    • Plans and drives operational exempt and non-exempt staffing needs
    • Leads building wide performance management plans in partnership with leadership team
    • Promotes and develops the competencies of our technical and non-technical team members
    • Implements and rollout corrective action plans through direct teams and vendors to address instances of poor service
    • Identifies and recruits vacancies within their directly employed operating structure

    JOB REQUIREMENTS

     

     

     

    Education

    • 4-year degree in Electrical Engineering or related technical disciplines with a controls emphasis

     

    Experience

    • 15 years of experience with and knowledge of material handling equipment and facilities maintenance. Including but not limited to:
      • Experience managing teams of engineers, managers, and hourly associates.
      • Experience managing maintenance operating budgets in the excess $5MM
      • Experience managing material handling assets preventative maintenance programs in the excess of $200MM
      • Experience in managing larger facilities in the excess of 700,000 sq. ft.
      • Experience in managing large Capital Budgets in the excess $5MM
    • Five or more years engineering experience supporting, commissioning and troubleshooting PLC/PC industrial control systems (Siemens, Rockwell Systems/Allen Bradley, Square D) and their industrial networks (DeviceNet, SDS and Profibus, Ethernet I/O)

     

     

    SPECIAL POSITION REQUIREMENTS

     

    • Ability to adjust work schedule according to the business needs
    • Ability to work additional hours with little or no notice
    • Occasional travel to other distribution centers in the network

     

    WORKING CONDITIONS

     

    • Exposure to distribution center conditions, which may include loud noises, variable temperatures, dusty environment, and strong scents related to cosmetics or fragrance.

    The pay range for this position is $98,000.00 - $166,300.00 / Year with the opportunity for eligible associates to earn additional compensation pursuant to the Company’s bonus plan. Exact pay will be based on factors including, but not limited to relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, level, shift, geographic location, and business and organizational needs. Full-time positions are eligible for paid time off, health, dental, vision, life and disability benefits. Part-time positions are eligible for dental, vision, life, and disability benefits.
