Rivian is seeking a world-class leader to serve as Sr. Manager, Electronics Design who will grow and mentor a team of engineers to support the design and delivery of Battery Management Systems and key innovative user interface and sensing electronics for consumer and commercial spaces as well as drive new technologies into all of Rivian's vehicle portfolio. Rivian continues to vertically integrate major vehicle systems and develop vehicles that support a wide range of outdoor and commercial needs. The opening will be located at our Irvine, CA facility and reports directly to the Director of Electronics Design.
Lead the development and delivery of Rivian's Battery Management System and key vehicle sensing and input control electronics for Consumer, Commercial, and Energy products for all of Rivian's platforms
Drive innovation and integration around core sensing technologies, battery architectures, components, assembly, PCBA, manufacturing, component selection, and electronics design, across Rivian Consumer and Commercial Products
Help drive and down select the technology roadmap within Battery and Electromechanical Sensor Electronics and drive make/buy decisions within the domain
Work with vendors and internal teams to drive the development, test, and integration of mixed-signal electronics
Grow and mentor top talent in the art of multidisciplinary electronics design including BMS (Battery Management System) and Sensor and Actuation Products
Resolve Integration, Production Ramp, and Launch issues of your products
Leading through direct input and collaboration, the creation of, and have final sign off on the following areas:
Technical Product Requirements
System design and definition
Regular design reviews (schematics, layout, mechanical, DFMEAs, PFMEAs)
Test and Validation Plans at component and system
Evaluate, Build, and Refine business and development processes
Collaborate with Product, UIUX, Studio, Software Controls, Mechanical, and Electronics teams to define product design, style, and technical requirements
BS in Electrical or Mechatronics Engineering, or equivalent experience
10 years of experience working in detailed electronics design
4 years building, growing, and managing high-performing teams of design and design responsible engineers
Multidisciplinary insight and experience to resolving issues
Experience in high volume mass production and delivery
Full stack experience taking products from concept to volume mass production
Deep technical understanding of balancing volume, weight, power density, thermal density, and cost
Demonstrated Creative thinking and problem-solving toolbox.
Zoom Out and then Dive In, break down complex problems to identify issues and guide engineering resources to success.
Salary Range California-Based Applicants: $189,000 - $217,000 (actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law).
