Walpole Outdoors is hiring a Full-Time Technical Product Director in Foxborough, MA. 
 
The Technical Product Manager will be responsible for defining and managing the product portfolio, simplifying design modifications, and building the methods and support materials that enable the company to maintain its ability to offer flexibility in design, while increasing the efficiency of the delivery process. They will have the ability to think “Big Picture” while working at a detailed level.

The role will suit someone who has strong data analytics, is commercially astute, and has great organizational skills. Experience in home design or related markets with a working knowledge of CAD and related technologies is required.

 Role Objectives

1. Define the Product Portfolio and Design parameters that optimize both efficiency and design flexibility
2. Simplify and standardize processes related to product design 
3. Introduce a Product Configurator putting design capabilities in the hands of the customer
4. Create and maintain the required Product Definitions, Specifications, and Support Documentation including CAD Drawings, Customer Renderings, and Build Instructions
5. Devise and maintain the processes required to both expand and rationalize the product range
6. Develop and enforce product approval processes  
7. Set up the appropriate databases and filing systems to ensure traceability and control

• Manage the Estimating (3) and Engineering (3 internal, 3 external) departments
• Define the Product Range, Design Rules and Approval processes
• Utilize contractors and internal staff to establish a library of technical documentation including product definitions, CAD drawings, product renderings, build instructions and installation instructions to assist in effectively serving our customers while ensuring the necessary availability, accessibility, and sustainability of these resources.
• Select and implement the use of a Product Configurator that puts design capabilities in the hands of the customer
• Approve new projects and products
• Establish and maintain an efficient master library for engineering and production files considering ease of use for all parties.
• Establish processes for updating and maintaining technical documentation, ensuring version control and document integrity.
• Develop a long-term plan for file and library management sustainability.
• Implement quality control measures to review drawings and documentation for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with industry standards.

• Bachelor’s degree in drafting, engineering, or a related field; 5 years of technical work experience
• Proficiency in CAD software, preferably in Autodesk Inventor and Autodesk Revit
• Understanding of engineering principles and technical terminology; ability to interpret design requirements and incorporate them into drawings accurately
• Strong writing skills to develop clear and concise product specifications that meet professional standards; Familiarity with industry-standard construction specifications is preferred
• Experience in establishing processes & document control
• Strong attention to detail and organization skills
• Experience in project management, including developing timelines and milestones
• Excellent communication and leadership skills
