Job Description:
The successful candidate will join the rapidly growing Data Center Solutions (DCS) business unit at Microchip. DCS has a broad portfolio of products widely deployed by the industry’s cutting-edge server/storage OEMs and hyperscale datacenters. Customers deploy DCS solutions into applications ranging from Big Data capacity storage to artificial intelligence and machine learning that are helping to shape the next digital age. Our product portfolio includes SAS/PCIe/NVMe/CXL products that connect, manage, and secure the world’s information, including Flash Controllers, High Performance Switches, RAID Controllers and Memory Controllers. An opening exists for an experienced industry veteran product with a demonstrated track record of building and leading high-performance teams. The developments will be in the next generation of storage and memory controller SoC products. This will involve taking a design from initial concept through to production. As an Associate Director, Product Development, your job will entail the following:
Provide technical design and verification engineering leadership through all phases of silicon ASIC development, but primarily focused on planning, execution and post silicon support during design in and mass production.
Overall development ownership and leadership of complex digital integrated circuits at the block, subsystem or device level, including team management.
Collaborate with firmware, validation and solutions teams to ensure the silicon platform meets the design and verification requirements.
Evaluate design requirements and decide on the most efficient IP re-use and new IP development to meet the design.
Ensure pre-silicon design emulation meets design specifications and drives the design and verification.
Support design and verification activities in pre and post silicon development phases to ensure features meet the architectural requirements.
Guide and support emulation and ASIC lab validation including lab debug.
Lead and mentor 30 engineers; scope and schedule deliverables
Clearly communicate program progress, risk and mitigations to the business unit.
Communicate regularly with the design and verification team in multiple locations to resolve issues, communicate status and solve technical problems.
Communicate with architects to justify design implementation decisions and associated trade-offs.
Requirements/Qualifications:
Qualifications/Requirements
Experience in Cadence Palladium / Protium Emulation environment.
Experience with all aspects of the SoC/ASIC design, verification, and implementation flow and Experience and understanding of complex ASIC design flows, including block and chip level simulation and debug, logic synthesis, static timing analysis, layout and revision control.
Proven track record of successful of full chip design and verification of complex SOCs
Ability to develop design resource models, design flow optimizations to continuously improve design stability and verification coverage.
Experience with ARM, RISC-V and/or MIPS CPUs is essential.
Experience in silicon design and verification of PCIe, DDR, multi-CPU SOCs is required
Protocol knowledge and experience in SAS/SATA/PCI-Express will be an asset.
Expert in internal chip bus and cache coherency
Excellent analytical and debugging skills and the ability to proactively solve issues.
Experience with leading the integration of 3rd party IP.
Experience with integration of high-speed, mixed signal IP
Experience with design flows utilizing tools such as Synopsys Design Compiler, Cadence Incisive, waveform viewers, and other similar tools.
Worked with physical design teams for layout implementation.
Familiar with low power methodology and flows.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Excellent teamwork and time management skills, self-direction, the ability to work under pressure and the desire to excel in a competitive environment.

Pay Range:
The expected base salary range for this position, if filled in California, is $150,000 - $260,000, dependent on specific skills and work experience. We offer a total compensation package that ranks among the best in the industry. It consists of competitive base pay, restricted stock units, and quarterly bonus payments. In addition to these components, our package includes health benefits that begin day one, retirement savings plans, and an industry leading ESPP program with a 2 year look back feature.
