Product Development Director plans and directs the resources and processes required to implement the vision and strategy for new product development and product lifecycle management of existing products. Establishes research and concept development projects and capabilities to innovate new products, product enhancements, and product redesign. Being a Product Development Director conducts market analysis and interacts with customers and prospects to identify new markets, articulate the value proposition, define requirements, and lead the development of a product roadmap. Oversees new product development and collaboration with internal stakeholders, including marketing, sales, and manufacturing, to ensure that new and existing products support the organization's financial goals. Additionally, Product Development Director develops teams with the knowledge and expertise to fulfill product development objectives. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to senior management. The Product Development Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. Overview
Essential Function
The Director of Product Development will be responsible for bringing products/brands to market that drive growth and profitability for a portfolio of brands. Must be keenly aware of applicable trends and demand the highest quality standards and innovations in all new products. Must be able to identify, develop, and/or evaluate comprehensive strategy for assigned brands. Will lead and oversee the product development cycle from new product initiation to completion of production for all new product launches and revisions. Will create comprehensive action plans for product concepts, design, promotion, product launch strategies and execution and collaborate with cross functional teams: Sales Ops, Marketing, Merchandising, etc. Will bring knowledge of best practices and will manage necessary restructuring of internal processes related to new product development. This is a hybrid role, reporting into the corporate office in Denton TX on Tuesdays and Weds of each week.
