The Consumer Packaging-North America Division has an immediate need for a Product Development Director for Containers. This role will lead the technical support, product development and project execution for a cross-functional team to develop value-added injection molded package solutions. The successful candidate will work closely with Sales, Product Line Management, Finance, Innovation, Operations, and Engineering & Technical Services to drive successful product development and business growth.
1. Direct the technical support, product development and project execution for a cross-functional team to develop value-added container solutions.
2. Lead a team of Product Development Engineers to ensure project delivery against all agreed project objectives, while fostering growth and skill development.
3. Work closely with the Technical Development Manager and Product Line Management to have the necessary resources to maintain and grow the Containers Product Line.
4. Ensure overall execution of new product developments from concept through to implementation in accordance with the Berry Global stage gate processes.
5. Ensure excellence in communication to all stakeholders throughout the development stages.
6. Work in partnership with Sales, Product Line Management and Operations, to the creation of new business proposals to gain profitable new business and retain current business at acceptable margins.
7. Maintain and enforce all company safety, environmental, and department of health requirements.
1. Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or equivalent technical experience; Masters Degree or MBA is a plus.
2. 10 years’ experience with injection molding manufacturing processes, package design, project management, and successful product commercialization.
3. Excellent people management skills with experience in managing direct reports or multi-disciplinary teams.
4. Capability to build/maintain excellent rapport with Sales, Marketing, Product Line management and Operation teams.
5. Proficient organizational and communication skills with proven ability to complete multiple tasks simultaneously.
6. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are required for data driven decision making
