Product Development Director jobs in Lima, OH
Product Development Director plans and directs the resources and processes required to implement the vision and strategy for new product development and product lifecycle management of existing products. Establishes research and concept development projects and capabilities to innovate new products, product enhancements, and product redesign. Being a Product Development Director conducts market analysis and interacts with customers and prospects to identify new markets, articulate the value proposition, define requirements, and lead the development of a product roadmap. Oversees new product development and collaboration with internal stakeholders, including marketing, sales, and manufacturing, to ensure that new and existing products support the organization's financial goals. Additionally, Product Development Director develops teams with the knowledge and expertise to fulfill product development objectives. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to senior management. The Product Development Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. To be a Product Development Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function. ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES
- Performs work requiring a thorough knowledge of mechanical theory and principles, statutory codes, and equipment requirements
- Design in accordance with GD&T tolerances and OSHA standards related to safety and ergonomics
- Installation support as required for prototype equipment
- Support product development through all stages to be production ready
- Support creation and changes to product manuals and supporting media
- Assist with quoting and concepting
- Review service calls, warranty costs, and quality issues
- Product and purchased part life cycle testing
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE
Qualifications/Skills:
- 5 years of 3D design in Solidworks preferred
- Ability to interface with customers and vendors in a professional manner
- Able to conform to shifting priorities, demands, and timelines through analytical and problem-solving capabilities
- Excellent communication skills; verbal and written
- Experience with SolidWorks, Composer, Photoshop, and Adobe InDesign a plus
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in related field of study or equivalent work experience
