Product Development Director plans and directs the resources and processes required to implement the vision and strategy for new product development and product lifecycle management of existing products. Establishes research and concept development projects and capabilities to innovate new products, product enhancements, and product redesign. Being a Product Development Director conducts market analysis and interacts with customers and prospects to identify new markets, articulate the value proposition, define requirements, and lead the development of a product roadmap. Oversees new product development and collaboration with internal stakeholders, including marketing, sales, and manufacturing, to ensure that new and existing products support the organization's financial goals. Additionally, Product Development Director develops teams with the knowledge and expertise to fulfill product development objectives. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to senior management. The Product Development Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. To be a Product Development Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function. We are currently hiring a Development Director for our Orange County Inland Empire Division based in Irvine, CA. The Director will generate revenue for our Heart Challenge fundraising campaign.  This campaign includes our signature Orange County Heart & Stroke Walk event.  

     

    The Development Director is responsible for driving philanthropic giving strategies aligned with the organization's goals and objectives. Responsibilities include developing and managing a portfolio of current and prospective donors, prospect identification and stewardship, and designing and managing donor engagement experiences and events. Serves as a subject matter expert and actively collaborates with internal partners within the market, region, and national center to forge transformational donor relationships.

    Responsibilities

    • Generate revenue by prospecting and securing local corporate sponsorship and individual donations.  Achieve revenue goals by building and maintaining relationships with corporate partners and donors.
    • Build and maintain a pipeline of prospective corporate sponsors and donors by conducting research that matches to the campaign goals and the Association's mission.
    • Develop and present proposals and accompanying materials to secure revenue and volunteer engagement.
    • Recruit and be responsible for executive volunteer leadership, volunteer committees, and day-of-the-event volunteers.
    • Recruit corporate team participation in Heart Walk and motivate team members to fundraise.
    • Lead and engage new individual membership for our Cor Vitae giving society, in partnership with other appropriate fundraising staff.  Includes planning and implementing regular engagement events for members.
    • Plan and implement events in collaboration with internal and external partners.
    • Work with a Communications Director to support and promote campaign communication plans.

     

    Qualifications

    • 3 years of relevant experience in fundraising, sales, or equivalent type experience
    • Ability to do daily local travel up to 30%; requires access to reliable transportation at all times on an immediate basis
    • Ability to lift and/or move large objects (such as boxes) with the expectation that heavier items would be broken down into smaller components or requesting additional assistance may be required before lifting and/or moving
    • Must have at least basic knowledge and skill/proficiency with Microsoft Office

    Here are some of the preferred experience skills we are seeking:

    • University/College degree or equivalent experience, preferred
    • Experience managing and cultivating high-level leaders at the C-Suite level
    • Knowledge of corporate and community networks

     

    Compensation & Benefits

    Expected pay range will be $64,750 to $82,000 annually. This position is incentive eligible based on achieving certain targets. Pay is commensurate with experience; geographic differentials to the pay range may apply. The American Heart Association invests in its people.
