Product Development Manager manages the staff, resources, and processes required to implement the vision and strategy for new product development and product lifecycle management of existing products. Incorporates research and concept development projects and capabilities with market analysis, industry intelligence, and customer monitoring to support product roadmaps and innovate new products, enhancements, and redesigns. Being a Product Development Manager coordinates with internal stakeholders, including marketing, sales, and manufacturing, to ensure that new and existing products meet development targets and support the organization's financial goals. Develops teams with the knowledge and expertise to fulfill product development objectives. Additionally, Product Development Manager typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Product Development Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Product Development Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.     Relevant experience required: Minimum 3-5 years' experience in one or more of the following fields: workforce development, economic development, government, planning, public administration, related business, not-for- profit area.

    Knowledge required: Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills. Demonstrated ability to efficiently manage multiple projects/tasks simultaneously, take initiative, and work independently. Strong attention to detail and independent follow through are required. Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word; Database management.


    Duties Description
    • Applicants MUST submit a cover letter with resume to be considered.
    • Position expected to work onsite and hybrid consistent with New York State.

    BASIC FUNCTION:
    Manage workforce development incentives from application review through funding disbursement for projects. Manage special projects and programs for the Office of Strategic Workforce Development (OSWD).

    WORK PERFORMED:
    • General management of workforce development grant programs including review of applications, management of approval and funding process, compiling, and reviewing information, negotiating terms, preparing directors approval documents and contracts, presenting projects, managing reporting and grantee engagement, and attending off-site meetings as necessary.
    • Communicate with grantees via telephone, email, and paper correspondence.
    • Monitor, prepare, and analyze Consolidated Funding Applications (CFA).
    • Ensure that project information is accurate in the web-based project tracking database.
    • Coordinate with internal contacts (Loans & Grants, Finance, Design and Construction, Contractor and Supplier Diversity, Legal) in the preparation of board of directors' approval materials, contracts, project status reports, and other documents appropriate for the review/management of projects.
    • Review requests for disbursement, perform desk audits, work with project attorneys for loan closings, and oversee grant disbursements.
    • Assume a variety of Department-wide responsibilities as assigned, such as writing briefing memos, preparing complex spreadsheets, reviewing and improving processes, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and managing data and budget information.
    • Coordinate with Data and Metrics Manager on reporting requirements for inclusion in grantee agreements and evaluation.
    • Monitor grantee compliance with reporting and contract requirements.
    • Other projects as assigned by VP and senior staff.
