Product Development Manager manages the staff, resources, and processes required to implement the vision and strategy for new product development and product lifecycle management of existing products. Incorporates research and concept development projects and capabilities with market analysis, industry intelligence, and customer monitoring to support product roadmaps and innovate new products, enhancements, and redesigns. Being a Product Development Manager coordinates with internal stakeholders, including marketing, sales, and manufacturing, to ensure that new and existing products meet development targets and support the organization's financial goals. Develops teams with the knowledge and expertise to fulfill product development objectives. Additionally, Product Development Manager typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Product Development Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions.     Position Overview:

    As a Product Development Engineer in our HVAC manufacturing company, you will play a key role in designing, developing, and improving our HVAC products. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including R&D, manufacturing, and marketing, to bring new and enhanced products to market. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in HVAC systems, a passion for innovation, and a proven track record of successful product development.


    Key Responsibilities:

    1. New Product Development: Lead the design and development process for new air handling unit products from concept to production, ensuring alignment with customer requirements, industry standards, and company objectives.
    2. Product Improvement: Identify areas for product enhancement and optimization through research, analysis, and feedback from customers, sales teams, and other stakeholders. Implement design changes and enhancements to improve performance, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.
    3. Technical Design and Engineering: Utilize CAD software and other engineering tools to create detailed designs, specifications, and engineering drawings for new products and product improvements. Conduct thorough analysis and simulations to validate design concepts and performance parameters.
    4. Prototype Development and Testing: Collaborate with manufacturing and quality assurance teams to build prototypes of new products and conduct comprehensive testing and validation to ensure compliance with specifications and regulatory requirements.
    5. Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including sales, marketing, manufacturing, and procurement, to coordinate product development activities, address technical challenges, and ensure successful product launches.
    6. Continuous Learning and Innovation: Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in HVAC and air handling systems. Leverage insights and knowledge to propose innovative solutions and enhancements to product offerings.
    7. Project Management: Develop and maintain project timelines, ensuring timely completion of milestones. Coordinate with internal teams and external partners to streamline the product development process.
    8. Quality Assurance: Work closely with the quality assurance team to identify and address any product quality issues during the development phase. Implement design improvements based on feedback and testing results.

    Requirements

    Requirements

    • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, HVAC Engineering, or a related field
    • 7 years’ experience in product development within the HVAC industry or related field
    • Proven experience in product development, engineering design, and project management within the HVAC industry, preferably in air handling systems
    • Experience managing a small engineering team and/or project leadership experience preferred
    • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and simulation tools (e.g., ANSYS, CFD) for design and analysis
    • Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, and heat transfer principles
    • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail, with a focus on delivering high-quality, innovative solutions
    • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
    • Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
