Product Development Manager manages the staff, resources, and processes required to implement the vision and strategy for new product development and product lifecycle management of existing products. Incorporates research and concept development projects and capabilities with market analysis, industry intelligence, and customer monitoring to support product roadmaps and innovate new products, enhancements, and redesigns. Being a Product Development Manager coordinates with internal stakeholders, including marketing, sales, and manufacturing, to ensure that new and existing products meet development targets and support the organization's financial goals. Develops teams with the knowledge and expertise to fulfill product development objectives. Additionally, Product Development Manager typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Product Development Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Product Development Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.   • The Vermont Country Store is currently seeking an Associate Product Development Manager to join our Merchandising Team. This role successfully manages specific product categories and develops new, unique, hard-to-find products for The Vermont Country Store customer while driving sales and profit growth across multiple channels.

     

    Where We Are

    This hybrid position requires in-person work three days per week at 5650 Main Street, Manchester Center, Vermont.

     

    A Sampling of What You’ll Do

    • Develop and manage merchandise assortment for assigned categories to achieve sales and growth objectives
    • Collaboratively build and execute seasonal and annual multi-channel business plans
    • Understand the competitive marketplace and pursue category opportunities that align with business plans
    • Review and analyze key performance metrics for products and develop a plan to address opportunities and challenges
    • Develop relationships with vendors and prospective suppliers to maximize quality and growth potential
    • Collaborate closely with various internal teams to optimize and ensure appropriate product assortment, quality, packaging, and presentation across all channels and touch points
    • Develop and lead product brainstorm meetings to identify new growth areas
    • Domestic and international travel as needed

     

    Who We’re Looking For 

    • Energetic self-starter that works well in a team as well as independently
    • Combination of high creativity to drive innovation and high analytical skills to drive business performance
    • Passion for accuracy and innovation
    • Detail oriented with consistent and timely follow through
    • Strong presentation, listening, verbal, and written skills
    • 3-5 years of merchandising or product management experience in a multi-channel retail environment or equivalent experience in a related field
    • Experience using Excel a must, pivot tables a plus
