  • Responsibilities

    • Leads or supports detailed estimating of projects in close collaboration with Account Executives.
    • Gains proficiency and manage costing elements of ES2 estimating software.
    • Coordinates and validates assumptions made during project design or proposal phase with mechanical contractors, electrical contractors, design engineers, etc to mitigate estimation assumptions.
    • Builds a detailed cost estimate and scope of work for assigned projects in conjunction with Engineering, Operations and Sales. Assists in preparing proposals and other customer communication documents.
    • Active role participating with cross-functional teams in the development of specific components of the proposal development and sale.
    • Keeps Account Executives informed and copied on any and all communication with assigned key accounts which could be in the form of proposals, additional pricing, pricing clarification, phone calls, etc.
    • Determines the optimal layout and configuration of multiple low voltage systems to include Unified Control Solutions
    • Reviews budget and or estimate with sales and appropriate operations team to get mutual agreement on estimate.
    • Secures pricing from outside vendors and suppliers including scope, terms and conditions, bid forms, and contract reviews. Coordinates vendor purchases within corporate purchasing guidelines.
    • Assists in identifying specification issues or interpretation discrepancies and providing solutions to resolve risk items including writing requests for information through the construction channel.
    • Identifies and evaluates value-engineering options for proposed/designed scopes of work.
    • Performs on-site data collection at customer facilities required to perform estimating detailed development tasks.
    • Assists in presentations of proposals as required.
    • Participates in transition/handover meetings with Operations and Sales to ensure project scope and objectives, timeline and customer requirements are properly understood.
    • Maintains a self-directed work ethic at all times.
    • Uses standard ES2 estimating and development processes and tools in performing tasks.
    • Responsible for remaining current with relevant estimating and development standards and practices.
    • Responsible for accurate interpretation of specifications and design documents.
    • May provide post-contract design review support.
    • May provide job cost analysis and re-estimation of scopes of work.
    • Participates in relevant professional organizations.
    • Works to secure relevant professional certifications and licenses.
    • Responsible for the promotion and adherence of ES2 safety policies

    QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

    • Five or more years of experience in mechanical or electrical construction estimating and construction sales/operations experience including conceptual estimating.
    • Proven experience managing several projects simultaneously, Estimator needs good organizational and time management skills.
    • Must have experience with the software used by the company to estimate costs.
    • Must also have good problem-solving skills, according to MEP.
    • Technical and installation expertise in low voltage and communication systems (e.g., voice/data/video, fire alarm, security, card access, lighting, energy management and Building automation systems).
    • Knowledgeable in Local and National Mechanical and Electrical Codes.
    • Able to read, write, and interpret construction documents including plans & specs.

    EDUCATION

    • Associate's degree preferably in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or Business Administration.

    Starting pay will be based on experience.
