Production Control Clerk performs clerical tasks that support production control and ensure the efficient flow of materials required by production schedules. Monitors the inventory of parts, components, and raw materials and coordinates ordering, invoicing, and scheduling with vendors. Being a Production Control Clerk tracks status of customer orders and production schedules to identify issues or delays and coordinates with stakeholders to expedite orders and resolve problems. Inputs and maintains production data in ERP, MRP, or other databases. Additionally, Production Control Clerk requires a high school diploma. Typically reports to a manager. The Production Control Clerk works under the close direction of senior personnel in the functional area. Possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job. Duties and Responsibilities
· Responsible for managing customer communication through the quoting and production process.
· Communicating customer needs and feedback with upper management.
· Managing the quoting process and its team members.
· Creating part estimates with appropriate cycle times. Utilizing the production schedule to determine lead times.
· Managing the preproduction process. Ensuring all individuals involved in the process complete their requirements in a timely fashion.
· Managing the contract review process. Personally responsible for approving price, delivery, and routing.
· Planning/scheduling production for the facility using ERP system and scheduling boards.
· Manage expedites and pushouts.
· Work with operations on all job releases.
· Ensure adherence to the production control schedule.
· Works closely with manufacturing and sales to ensure work order schedules are updated and distributed timely.
· Interface with all support functions including quality, engineering, purchasing, sales, and manufacturing operations to ensure that products are processed with the highest level of quality and delivered to the customer on time.
· Communicates with shop management and sales any delays or potential setbacks.
· Works closely with sales to better understand customer expectations.
· Support the sales and operations groups through pertinent metric reporting and summary of key capacity constraints.
Required Experience and Skills
· 2 years in machine shop environment.
· 1 years managing experience.
· Scheduling experience.
· Quoting/estimating experience.
· Experience using an ERP system.
· Excellent verbal and written communication.
· Proficient with general computer software.
· Working knowledge of GD&T and blueprint reading.
· Ability to use CAD/CAM software a plus.
Other Qualifications
· High school graduate or equivalent.
· Proficiency in general math.
· Available to work extra hours as needed.
· Self-motivated leader.
· Great attention to detail.
