RN Infection Control/Employee Health:

Bethany Gardens a skilled nursing facility (SNF) in Oneida County is currently seeking an experienced and knowledgeable RN Director of Education/Infection Control Nurse to fill a position with a long-term care facility. The ideal candidate must have a current license as a Registered Nurse (RN) and possess at least 2 years of Infection Control and Nurse Supervisor experience gained in Skilled Nursing Facilities.

$7500 Sign-on bonus

What will I do as an Infection Prevention/Employee Health Nurse?

• Perform surveillance to identify individual infections in residents and staff and to identify clusters of infection in a timely manner

• Track trends in infection within the facility and report specific infections/clusters to appropriate agencies, as required by state and local regulations

• Identify infection control issues (e.g., those identified during environmental rounds) and make recommendations for corrective action

• Monitor infection prevention and control practices and employee compliance

• Develop and revise infection prevention and control policies and procedures for the facility

• Conduct outbreak investigation and initiate control measures

• Provide orientation and continuing education related to infection prevention for all staff

• Provide infection prevention and control consultation to all departments

• Actively participate in quality improvement programs

• Direct short and long-range planning activities for infection prevention and control

• Perform any other infection prevention and control duties that will improve resident care

• Plan and direct educational programs for professional development

• Participates in Quality Assurance, supervisory aother committee meetings as necessary.

• May function as RN staff nurse during staffing emergencies.

• Maintains immunization records of all employees.

• Assist the Medical Director with employee physicals, maintaining confidentiality of all medical information of physical and pre-employment work ups.

• Maintains effective relationships with other departments.

• Meets with the Director of Nursing regarding activities of the department and problems encountered on at least a weekly basis.

• Active member of the interdisciplinary team.

• Is required to stand, sit, and walk intermittently during the day. Frequent lifting and moving of residents and equipment is required.

The Diretcor of Education/Infection Preventionist will report to the Director of Nursing and consult to all departments in the facility, in recognition of the fact that an effective infection prevention and control program necessitates the cooperation of the entire staff.

Qualifications • Currently registered as a professional nurse in the State of New York. • Bachelor's Degree desirable • Previous teaching and supervisor experience required. • Demonstrates advanced leadership and managerial ability • Able to work effectively with others • Knowledgeable concerning geriatric nursing and rehabilitation • Membership and participation in professional organizations is encouraged. Must be vaccinated.
