  • Haakon Industries is a rapidly expanding, client-focused, manufacturer of high end custom air handling equipment.  We have developed a reputation for quality and reliability that has many of North America’s largest companies asking for our products by name.  Our equipment is used in hospitals, pharmaceutical laboratories, microchip manufacturers, universities, automotive manufacturing plants, and countless other institutional, industries, and commercial facilities.  We strive for excellence by continuing to invest in our facilities, our product, and our people.   Haakon Industries in headquartered in Richmond, BC Canada and currently has 3 manufacturing facilities; one in Kingston, ON, Canada and one in Cheney, WA, USA and our newest facility in Candler, NC, USA just outside of Asheville which opened in September of 2021.   We are looking for production engineering interns for the summer of 2024 to be a part of the team with the purpose of gaining exposure and hands on experience in manufacturing, engineering, and contributing other areas of the company.  This will be a full-time position during the summer with the opportunity for continued full-time employment consideration after graduation.   The ideal candidate possesses strong mechanical and manufacturing aptitude and problem solving skills, along with well developed interpersonal skills, both written and verbal.  Working as a Production Engineering Intern it is important that you are capable of effectively managing changing priorities, are self-motivated and thrive in an extremely fast paced environment.  You must understand lean manufacturing principals, have a high level of mechanical aptitude, be a strong proponent of continuous change and enjoy spending time on the production floor.  The chosen candidate will be tasked with implementing a very well defined project(s) working with the current production engineering staff, supervisors, purchasing, EHS, and interacting with team members on the floor.  This is a very “hands on” engineering exposure position.   Minimum Technical Qualifications: - Currently pursuing a Bachelor degree in Engineering, prefer Manufacturing or Mechanical. - Strong communication and mechanical reasoning skills. Preferred Experience Qualifications: - Prefer previous internship experience, but not required. - Prefer previous experience in a manufacturing environment, but not required.
