Production Engineering Manager manages the planning and designing of methods to improve or enhance existing programs. Oversees the analysis and review of budgets, schedules, production requirements and headcount to determine the most cost effective and efficient methods of obtaining necessary resources. Being a Production Engineering Manager develops and recommends revisions or enhancements to schedules, human and monetary resource allocations, and production requirements. Summary
Prepares clear, complete and accurate Bill of Materials, 3D models, and detail drawings from rough or detailed written specifications and/or sketches by performing the following duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Makes final CAD drawing of proposed product, checking dimension of parts, materials to be used, relation of one part to another, and relation of various parts to the whole assembly.
Utilizes knowledge of various machines, engineering practices, mathematics, fabrication materials, and other physical sciences to complete drawings.
Uses computer assisted drafting (CAD) software to prepare 2-D and 3-D drawings.
Researches and provides a detailed specification for Purchasing to procure materials or components required for the fabrication of the product. Prepares purchase orders for certain components.
Estimates labor times for manufacturing processes and enters data into the method of manufacture.
Prepares and maintains computerized bill of materials for production items.
Produces computer generated product nameplates.
Interfaces with customer to develop and/or modify product designs to meet customer requirements.
Produces and prepares work orders for distribution to the production supervisor.
Draws up master schedule to establish sequence and lead time of each operation to meet shipping dates according to customer orders.
Plans sequence of fabrication, assembly and other manufacturing operations for guidance of production workers.
Confers with department supervisors to determine status of assigned projects.

Education And/or Experience
Associate’s or Bachelor's degree and one to two years related experience, CAD (preferably SolidWorks) training, and equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from management, vendors, customers, and company employees.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Drafting Skills: Ability to read, analyze, prepare, interpret and layout blueprints using Computer Aided Drafting (CAD) and 3-D modeling software. Company utilizes CadKey and SolidWorks software.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Physical Requirements
General office / warehouse environment.
Ability to continuously stand or walk.
Required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing written and electronic figures, and viewing a computer terminal.
Constantly perform desk-based computer tasks.
May occasionally involve repetitive movements.
Frequently sit, sort, file paperwork or parts, grasp lightly, and use fine manipulation, bend, lift, carry, push and pull objects that weigh 20 pounds or less.
Multi-tasking with frequent interruptions.
Occasionally write by hand, use a telephone, twist, bend, stoop, and squat.
