Production Engineering Manager manages the planning and designing of methods to improve or enhance existing programs. Oversees the analysis and review of budgets, schedules, production requirements and headcount to determine the most cost effective and efficient methods of obtaining necessary resources. Being a Production Engineering Manager develops and recommends revisions or enhancements to schedules, human and monetary resource allocations, and production requirements. Job Summary:
Manage the Production Sustaining Engineering team to provide production engineering support for all aircraft product lines at Cirrus Aircraft.
Supervisory Responsibility:
This position will have responsibility for 1-2 leads and an overall staff of 10-15. Most staff will be degreed engineers, designers, analysts, and administrators.
Job Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions):
This position will manage a team of multi-functional engineers from airframe, systems, and powerplant disciplines to investigate reports of defective, damaged, or malfunctioning parts, assemblies, equipment, or systems to determine the nature and scope of problem then evaluate the findings to formulate corrective action plan and coordinates implementation of plan.
The Production Sustaining team manages timely and efficient engineering support for production related MRB activities, and Change Requests received from Manufacturing Operations, Quality Assurance, and Supply Chain. The Sustaining Manager is responsible to ensure design changes, solutions, repairs, and alterations provide high customer value, and meet certification requirements of the FAA Type Design, Production Certificate, and design intent. The Sustaining Manager must be able to run medium sized projects, coordinating easily with many other areas of the company and outside vendors to incorporate the design changes. They will also be interfacing with many areas of the company to ensure proper prioritization of production issues. Measures of success for the position include quality, timeliness, and quantity of outcomes.
