Production Planner
Position Reports To: Cost Engineering Manager
DESCRIPTION: Responsible for the implementation and administration of the Material Control Plan through the release of Shop Orders and Purchase Requisitions. Implements and manages the manufacturing database including Bills of Material, Routings, Item Costs.
JOB SUMMARY: The Production Planner is responsible for administering, organizing, and controlling material control functions of the plant, ensuring the flow of orders to the plant in a timely fashion to meet scheduled shipping dates.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Review and prepare manufacturing work orders, including make-to-order and make-to-stock, outlining operations, materials, shipping dates, and enter all other required information into the computer.
- Work from prints to input Bills of Materials.
- Review material reports for shortages and low levels and take appropriate action.
- Convert Customer orders into production jobs, making sure all the details are correct, and issuing materials.
- Create and maintain clear instructions for each production job, including the steps, and quality checks required.
- Work with the purchasing department to ensure timely availability of materials needed for each job.
- Use scheduling software to plan production schedule.
- Collaborate with other teams to resolve production-related problems, change or add operations, and update part masters.
- Continuously look for ways to improve production process and efficiency.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be a US Citizen.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to handle multiple tasks.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in managing data.
- Problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Team player with the ability to collaborate effectively.
- Basic understanding of manufacturing processes and materials management.
- Previous experience in job shop production environment preferred.
- Previous experience as a machinist preferred.
- Working knowledge of Epicor ERP systems helpful.
