Production Manager manages operations of production areas to ensure that volume, cost, waste, and quality standards are achieved. Follows overall production schedules to manage staffing and establish daily and shift production goals. Being a Production Manager monitors shift production metrics to identify and resolve issues and implement process improvements. Coordinates maintenance, turnarounds, and downtime for efficiency and speed. Additionally, Production Manager ensures that staff training processes, equipment, gear, and tool requirements are fulfilled to comply with health and safety regulations. Coaches teams in best practices to provide a safe and efficient work environment and resolve escalated issues and problems. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a senior manager. The Production Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Production Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required. Responsible for managing the converting activities departments within the plant.
Job Purpose
You will oversee the production process and coordinates all activities to ensure enough resources on hand and targets are meet.
Key Responsability Areas
- Manage the converting operation such that the products produced in the converting areas meet and/or exceed all quality standards and specifications.
- Direct the safety activities within the department and ensure that health and safety of employees is a top priority.
- Direct and manage the personnel in the converting areas to ensure that the department is manned efficiently and that the personnel is trained appropriately.
- Communicate and collaborate with other departments, such as quality, finance, HR, planning and warehouse to meet department goals.
- Establish goals for production and coordinate a plan to meet those goals.
- Analyze production data and optimize for efficiency.
- Incumbent must be results oriented and exhibit direct, practical hands-on approach to resolving day to day production issues.
- Position must be able to prioritize multiple and sometimes competing production/ scheduling/customer requirements in order to achieve daily, weekly or monthly targets.
- Manage the converting operation such that the products produced in the converting process areas meet productivity and efficiency financial targets and budgets.
- Implement and coordinate improvements within the converting areas which will reduce costs, improve quality and improve efficiency.

- Business – Complete understanding the manufacturing function.
- Functional – understands principles and concepts in own function. This position must be a specialist in converting operations through extensive experience and education.
People Responsibilities
The incumbent will have full supervisory/leadership responsibilities for the people in the converting area.
Directly managed: 2 production supervisors and 1 process engineer
Indirectly managed: ______
Freedom to Act
Impacts all work activities in the converting functions. The incumbent will provide direction and guidance to the supervisors in the converting areas. He will consult frequently and often with the MGM Plant Manager on all decisions related to the achievement of the facilities objectives and goals.
Complexity
Based on factual information analysis, the incumbent will make judgements in concert with the MGM Plant Manager on how to achieve budgeted targets. Decisions require attention to detail and careful analysis of production metrics.
Impact on Business Results
This position will have significant impact of the MM Plant in terms of business results and ultimately on the customer via providing a product that meets internal and external requirements.
Involvement in Business Planning/ Budget
Contributes to the end results through sharing responsibility for setting and managing departmental budgets.

Communication
The incumbent must have excellent verbal and written communication skills. Further, this position will interface with various levels of management and extensively with the production operators. Accordingly, the incumbent must be able to exercise diplomacy and tact while simultaneously directing and leading the production activities in the converting area.
