Production Manager manages operations of production areas to ensure that volume, cost, waste, and quality standards are achieved. Follows overall production schedules to manage staffing and establish daily and shift production goals. Being a Production Manager monitors shift production metrics to identify and resolve issues and implement process improvements. Coordinates maintenance, turnarounds, and downtime for efficiency and speed. Additionally, Production Manager ensures that staff training processes, equipment, gear, and tool requirements are fulfilled to comply with health and safety regulations. Coaches teams in best practices to provide a safe and efficient work environment and resolve escalated issues and problems. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a senior manager. The Production Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Production Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.     Position Reports To: Sr. Director, Remote Operations


    Position Summary: The Production Manager will support the Remote Operations department by handling logistics for Features and ENG Shoots for marketing, sponsorship, and promos. The production manager will also support the Remote Operations department by handling all logistics for assigned projects for assigned remotes (e.g., events such as, but not limited to the All Star Game, Regular Season, Post Season and World Series, Spring Training, Winter Meetings, Third Party Content (Apple), NHL Network Remotes, and any other assigned events.)


    Responsibilities: Specific responsibilities include:

    • Manage production needs for the department responsible for on-air promotion, off-air advertising, production of league initiative videos, features, and third-party programming.
    • Hire ENG crews for league initiative requests, features, sponsorship, and promos shoots (such as, but not limited to film, photo, ENG, green screen).
    • Manage bids and budgets for assigned Remote Operations projects, including issuing estimates and timely submission of actual expense reports and budget actuals.
    • Assign personnel and identify freelance talent and external companies/agencies to handle extra workload.
    • Interface with external agencies, vendors, MLB, NHL, sales, and com on various projects.
    • Coordinate travel, ground transportation, and hotels for all working staff and talent.
    • Responsible for on-boarding, crewing and payrolling all technical and support personnel for assigned remote events (either through third-party crewers or directly).
    • Timely and accurate approval and coding of invoices and show cost-related expense reports.
    • Manage coordination of office trailers, catering, generators, security, shipping, and all other remote location expenses.
    • Manage all onsite operational needs, such as managing crew and production needs, catering, shipping, and any other onsite needs.
    • Control credentialing for production, technical, talent and corporate needs.
    • Create Show Books and Production Memo for remote events, including working with Technical Manager on issuing Tech Book.
    • Serve as onsite and homebase Production Manager for various events during the year.
    • Other such duties as required.

    It is expected that the Production Manager will maintain and increase the knowledge base in the Operations discipline as well as the business on an ongoing basis.


    Skills & Experience: The ideal candidate must have most if not all of the following skills and experiences:

    • 3-5 years prior Sports Operations experience is required. Previous experience working with production companies on commercial productions is preferred.
    • Substantial knowledge of baseball and hockey, plus knowledge of the nuances of live broadcasting of baseball and hockey.
    • A general knowledge of live television remote operations and working on live television sports onsite and remotely as support from the office.
    • A general knowledge of line-item staff, such as DPs and Post Production positions in regards to commercial format production.
    • Passion for operations and logistics.
    • Ability to work effectively under pressure.
    • Must demonstrate superior follow up skills and detail-orientation.
    • Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Be extremely detailed, organized, demonstrate initiative and the ability to complete multiple assignments in a timely manner.
    • Must work well in a dynamic environment and be able to recommend and implement process improvements, work independently and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
    • Demonstrate the tact, diplomacy, decisiveness, and superior people skills required in the pressurized environment of live television.
    • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including long hours, nights, weekends, and holidays as required.
    • Ability to regularly travel domestically and internationally.
    • Ability to lift 25 pounds as required.
    • Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods of time.
    • Ability to walk various distances between required on site locations.
    • Ability to work effectively while exposed to varying and unpredictable weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, wind, etc.
    • Individual must possess strong computer skills and be an effective user of Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel and Power Point.
    • Possess the manual dexterity needed to effectively create required work product.
    • Possess the visual acuity needed to effectively create required work product.
    • Possess the auditory acuity needed to effectively create required work product.

    Education: Bachelor's degree is preferred.
