Production Painter jobs in Springfield, IL
Production Painter operates a spray painter or other equipment to apply industrial paint finishes on metals or products. Mixes paints and other solutions and monitors drying to ensure desired results. Being a Production Painter completes finishing with baking, polishing or other materials. Follows all required safety procedures. Additionally, Production Painter may paint items by hand as needed. Requires a high school diploma. Typically reports to supervisor/manager. May require an apprenticeship and/or formal training in area of specialty. The Production Painter possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job. Description
The painter prepares surfaces for painting and finishing; applies undercoats and finish coats using the full range of application methods from spray to powder coat; mixes paints and finishes.
- Prepares, primes, sands, seals, patches and paints surfaces utilizing spray paint and/or powder coating.
- Operates, cleans and maintains all painting equipment, including brush, sprayers and pumps, etc.
- Safely stores and labels all materials.

- Cleans spray chambers, conveyors, tanks, hoses, and nozzles using solvent.

Requirements
- Ability to setup and operate paint booth machines.
- Ability to use standard measuring tools (i.e. micrometers and gauges).
- Ability to left up to 100 pounds; 30 – 50 pounds regularly.
- Ability to operate and use required tools and equipment skillfully and safely.
- Ability to coordinate work flow for multiple projects.
