Production Scheduler develops, prepares, and maintains production schedules to guide the production activities and resources that achieve maximum efficiency and meet output and timeline objectives. Gathers data from internal teams to incorporate materials, inventories, resource availability, and delivery commitments into schedules. Being a Production Scheduler monitors daily production results and revises scheduling responsive to changes in the flow of materials, designs, equipment, or other resources. Utilizes ERP systems, planning and scheduling software, or other database tools to develop and maintain master schedules and generate reporting. Additionally, Production Scheduler typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. The Production Scheduler work is highly independent. The Scheduler plans and prepares production schedules for manufacture of industrial or commercial products by performing the following duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
· Draws up master schedule to establish sequence and lead time of each operation to meet shipping dates according to sales forecasts or customer orders.
· Analyzes production specifications and plant capacity data and performs mathematical calculations to determine manufacturing processes, tools, and human resource requirements and maintain plant capacity data base. Plans and schedules workflow for each department and operation according to previously established manufacturing sequences and lead times.
· Plans sequence of fabrication, assembly, installation and other manufacturing operations for guidance of production workers.
· Confirm with department Supervisors to determine status of assigned projects.
· Expedites operations that delay schedules and alters schedules to meet unforeseen conditions.
· Schedule production using Parts .
· Participates in Fast Response Meeting and be prepared to cover short ship issues and supply or customer increase issues.
· Observe inventory levels to determine if they need to be increased / decreased – always focus on inventory reductions.
· Assist in smooth transition of any supplier change or product change.
· Plan bank builds.
· Assist with capacity questionnaires as requested by customer(s).
· Coordinate with production/engineering for sample runs.
· Follow through with ECN changes with quoting and bank build.
· Assist Corporate Purchasing with volumes and service reports.
· It is the responsibility of all employees to take corrective actions for all nonconforming items identified by the employee.
· Perform other duties and responsibilities as they relate to overall safe and efficient plant operation.
· Supervisory Responsibilities- In the event that this position becomes vacant, the Materials Manager will resume responsibilities.
· Environmental Responsibilities- Cooperation with action team directives. Familiar with evacuation plans. Trained in clean-up modules. Familiar with Environmental plant postings.
· Conduct cycle counts, investigate discrepancies.
· Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
· Comply with of all internal and OSHA required safety procedures.
· Back up other departmental functions: Buyer, Customer Service, Customer Portals.
· Maintain updated cycle times in Parts .
· Analyze production trends and efficiencies
