Production Scheduler Manager manages the development, preparation, and maintenance of production schedules to guide the production activities and resources that achieve maximum efficiency and meet output and timeline objectives. Collaborates with internal teams to assess and incorporate materials, inventories, resource availability, and delivery commitments into schedules. Being a Production Scheduler Manager monitors production progress and develops revised scheduling responsive to changes in the flow of materials, designs, equipment, or other resources. Utilizes ERP systems, planning and scheduling software, or other database tools to develop and maintain master schedules. Additionally, Production Scheduler Manager requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Production Scheduler Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Production Scheduler Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.   • Responsibilities: Oversees and coordinates all aspects of the growing of quality annuals, perennials as ‘finished’ plants. This position supports and supervises three primary production areas including plant propagation, production logistics, and growing. Tasks include the following:

    Propagation

    • Coordinate the timely seeding propagation of plant material according to the production plan and grower.
    • Evaluate germination and plant mortality for appropriate feedback and improvement.

    Production logistics

    • Coordinate the timely transplant of plant materials from plug material into final products, per the growing schedule.
    • Coordinate and plan the availability of soil, pots and trays, and spaces for production.
    • Coordinate the management of the crop from transplant to order picking, including watering, trimming, spacing, and other crop-specific tasks with grower.
    • Coordinate the picking of the plants for retail, wholesale, and fundraiser orders to ensure timely delivery of plants to the appropriate customers.
    • Ensure vegetative material and seeds are received and cared for appropriately until planted.
    • Coordinate the unloading of trucks and materials from carts onto tables.

    Growing

    • Coordinate with the grower for timely applications of plant growth products, fertilizers, and pest management tools, (biological, preventive, chemical, mechanical and other options) and other plant specific needs.
    • Coordinate with the grower on the evaluation of new products, new plant materials, and modified crop management techniques for improved plant production.
    • Assist grower as needed on appropriate documentation of pesticide use, REIs, signage, MSDS sheets, etc.
    • Coordinate appropriate training of safety protocols for new employees in working with pesticides.
    • Act as back up to grower for necessary plant care

    • Feedback. Ensure regular and open feedback of production and personnel needs with appropriate staff for continued improvement.
    • Training and supervision. Ensure the appropriate onboarding and training of new employees in production, including safe practices and use of tools, effective and efficient production goals, etc.
    • Efficient use of labor/space
    • Strong production organizational skills
    • Understanding crops and their ‘flow’ through the system to avoid unnecessary handling.
    • Set the pace for the production staff when handling/moving/shipping product.
    • Assist with coordinating and training labor.
    • Follow through with supervision of labor.
    • Manage basic maintenance needs of production and greenhouse.
    • Equipment – coordinate technical work and maintenance service as needed.
    • Update plant layout map, provide updates to GM, RM
    • Complete employee schedule for production staff

    Requirements:

    Production Team Member should have the following skills, education and experience:

    • 18
    • Be able to lift 30lbs
    • Running large equipment (or willing to learn)

    • Comfortable on ladders and with heights ideal
