Production Scheduler Supervisor jobs in Schenectady, NY

Production Scheduler Supervisor supervises the development, preparation, and maintenance of production schedules to guide the production activities and resources that achieve maximum efficiency and meet output and timeline objectives. Coordinates with internal teams to assess and incorporate materials, inventories, resource availability, and delivery commitments into schedules. Being a Production Scheduler Supervisor monitors daily production results and develops revised scheduling responsive to changes in the flow of materials, designs, equipment, or other resources. Utilizes ERP systems, planning and scheduling software, or other database tools to develop and maintain master schedules and generate reporting. Additionally, Production Scheduler Supervisor requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. The Production Scheduler Supervisor supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/ production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions. To be a Production Scheduler Supervisor typically requires 3-5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. Thorough knowledge of functional area and department processes.     Position Summary / Responsibilities:
    • Plans, prepares, issues and controls production schedules and coordinates with material requirements to ensure a controlled flow of approved materials timed to meet production requirements.
    • Advises management of the status of work in progress, material availability, and potential production problems to ensure that personnel, equipment, materials and services are provided as needed.
    • Schedules equipment and personnel, confirms material supply and demands, prepares work orders or purchase requests for the production or purchase of components or parts based on a master production schedule, shop load and inventory requirements.
    • Coordinates interdepartmental activity with quality assurance, manufacturing, purchasing, engineering, inventory control, traffic, etc.; schedules and expedites the movement of parts by means of move orders, stock transfers and requests for shipping orders.
    Knowledge:
    • Complete understanding and application of principles, concepts, practices, and standards. 
    • Full knowledge of industry practices. 
    • Independently demonstrates the skill and ability to perform fairly complex professional tasks.
    Problem Solving:
    • Develop solutions to a variety of complex problems. 
    • May refer to established precedents and policies.
    Discretion / Latitude:
    • Performs fairly complex tasks and participates in determining objectives of assignment. 
    • Plan schedules and arranges own activities in accomplishing objectives. 
    • Work is reviewed upon completion for adequacy in meeting objectives.
    Impact:
    • Exerts some influence on the overall objectives and long-range goals of the organization. 
    • Erroneous decisions or failure to achieve objectives would normally have a serious effect upon the administration of the organization.
    Liaison:
    • Represents organization as a prime contact on contracts or projects.
    • Interacts with senior internal and external personnel on significant matters often requiring coordination between organizations.
    • May develop and deliver presentations.

    Requirements:
    • Bachelor’s Degree and 6 years of experience.
    • Master’s Degree and 4 years of experience.
    • 4 years of related exempt experience can be substituted for Bachelor’s degree.
    • An Apprentice Certificate or graduation from Navy Nuclear Power School can be substituted for Bachelor’s degree.
    • A relevant professional certification can be substituted for a Bachelor’s Degree.
    • Certification Equivalency: PMP, CPIM and AICP.

    What are the top 3 items the Hiring Manager is looking for?
    • Network Scheduling experience is required (Primavera P6 is preferred. Proficiency with other scheduling software (i.e. MS Project) will be considered.
    • US Navy Nuclear Propulsion.
    • Experience in SAP environments.
