Title: Production Supervisor Location: 11 Forest Pkwy Shelton, CT
Department: Operations Shift: 1st shift 7- 3:30
& 2nd shift position 3:30 -12 am
Summary:
We have an opening for a 1st and a 2nd shift position. They are responsible for coordinating daily production work and Supervising direct and indirect labor employees. This position ensures shop floor employees work in adherence to all Lex policies, and that productivity and efficiency targets are routinely met. The Production Supervisor also helps train employees while assisting with the correction of employee issues, attendance problems and work behaviors within their Department.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Promote, implement, and enforce safe work practices. Ensure employees adhere to safety, attendance, and behavior policies.
- Champion Safety as a key priority for every associate, encouraging them to become actively involved in enhancing workplace safety as well as being alert to and addressing safety violations and potential safety issues.
- Ensure the team goals and objectives are in alignment with operational and business goals.
- Communicate daily production goals with employees and utilize resources in such a way to meet and exceed Lex’s on time delivery rates and product quality measures.
- Assign work to employees, and flex employees as needed to ensure daily targets are met
- Actively participate in daily production meetings.
- Schedule employee overtime as needed to meet and exceed daily production targets, and work in concert with managers to ensure overtime hours remain at or below target levels
- Team with company Managers and Production Coordinators to drive projects which improve overall productivity and efficiency.
- Lead problem root cause analyses activities. Develop and implement action plans as needed to address deficiencies
- Coordinate daily production with quality control and shipping so products are completed and shipped on time. Follow-up on recurrent quality issues and implement corrective actions as needed
- Help integrate the use of Lean Manufacturing tools and other ways to increase efficiency
- Train employees on manufacturing assembly processes, lean methodology, and corporate practices.
- Monitor productivity of the teams and work with area Managers and Human Resources to address and improve the performance of employees who are not meeting Lex Standards.
- Coordinate daily production with quality control and shipping so products are completed and shipped on time. Follow-up on recurrent quality issues and implement corrective actions as needed
- Provide updates to Inside Sales and other departments regarding production delays, delayed LTO requests, and work with cross-functionally to drive actions so that customer satisfaction is maintained.
- Complete and review job orders for variance in material, labor and overhead before closing them. Report errors in standards when found
- Review bill of materials and product routing for standard and non-standard parts and communicate any issues and report errors when found
- Maintain labor, efficiency, safety and attendance metrics and reports. Input daily and weekly production data as needed into various files or databases. Report on deficiencies to target and implement corrective actions as needed to improve performance.
- Approve time entries in Time and Attendance system and ensure employees are accurately entering data into the labor tracking system.
- Maintain time and attendance records for shop floor employees. Approve time-off requests and attendance in accordance with policy
- Participate in Lean activities, such as 5s events and kaizen events, and act as a an event leader when required
- Perform other duties as required.
Metrics/Accountability
- Maintain and exceed Lex corporate and department goals
- Regularly review productivity reports, follow-up on variances and implement actions to drive improvement
- Provide daily/weekly update reports as needed on overall output
- Monitor metrics as needed to improve efficiencies, quality, and delivery times.
- Perform annual and merit reviews for employees under charge for the purposes of attracting, maintaining, and encouraging employees to meet and exceed expectations
Supervisor Responsibilities
- Supervises and coordinates activities of shop floor employees to ensure they are adhering to Lex policies
- Ensure productivity and efficiency targets are routinely met, execute daily production schedule, handle employee issues.
- Responsibilities also include safety and implementing safe procedures across Lex Products.
- Ed Minimum 3 years’ experience as a Supervisor in a manufacturing environment
- 4 Year related college degree, mechanical, electrical, or industrial engineering or equivalent; 5 – 7 years’ experience in manufacturing in a lead or Supervisor position or related work experience in lieu of a bachelor’s degree
- Hands on employee management experience.
- Knowledge of Lean principles
- Ability to effectively utilize Microsoft Excel and Outlook, as well as general familiarity with utilizing computers and tablets for data entry.
- Prior experience with ERP system (APTEAN – M2M preferable)ucation and Experience
